A hardcore fan talked about the once-in-a-lifetime moment when Chris Martin saw his banner and asked him to come up to the stage during his concert in Auckland, New Zealand.
For every music lover, there is one artist whose songs they always look forward to no matter the mood. They have spent countless hours jamming to their favorite artist's music and are not alien to the nuances of their tunes. For Dylan Bode (@thatdylanbode), it was Coldplay that lit his eyes and soothed his soul. Dylan, 32, made headlines when he was invited to harmonize with Chris Martin during Coldplay's concert in Auckland, New Zealand, and the story behind it will move everyone, per his interview on a podcast named The Hit Breakfast (@thehitsbreakfast) run by Jono and Ben.
Holding a large sign that read, "Your music woke me up from a coma! Can we sing about this magic together?" Bode stood there in the crowd. It wasn't long before Martin spotted his sign in the crowd of 50 thousand. It led to him inviting Bode on the stage to perform "Magic" from the album "Ghost Stories." Later in the podcast, Bode sat down with the two of them and recounted the whole event.

He described the moment Chris Martin asked him to come up, "I'm still shaking just thinking about that moment." "The meeting with Chris Martin was... it goes way back before this because he's been with me since I was like 8 years old," Bode added. A clip of the show was later uploaded by a New Zealand media house named Stuff (@nzstuff). In the video, Bode can be seen going on the stage with his banner and then joining Chris Martin for the song.
During the podcast, Bode talked about his lifelong love for the band and their music. "He inspired my musical journey. Meeting him, it's brought me back to every moment I sang with him," he said. Also, he added that he harmonized with him for as long as he could remember. "He taught me music," he said. Bode then talked about the trying times after an incident that caused his heart to stop for five seconds, leaving him with a head injury. This mishap resulted in him falling into a coma for four days. The hospital staff then asked his husband if there was something that would make him feel comfortable. It led to the staff playing Coldplay for him. "About 24 hours after hearing Coldplay, the first signs of me coming out of this [the coma] was me playing air piano," he said. "It just changed the whole course of the healing process," Bode added.
Bode thankfully made a full recovery and could share a once-in-a-lifetime moment with the man who helped him pull through in such a special way. "Obviously, there is the coma aspect and coming back to life—it's huge, right, to have this second chance at life. I don't take anything for granted anymore," he said. People in the comments are in awe after listening to Bode's story of magical recovery and then meeting his musical icon. @bri.lynn.can shared, "Dylan is such an incredible person who truly deserved this experience. So grateful that you are with us today. Thank you for your bravery in sharing your story brother and being an inspiration for others. You are very loved." @maui_cherie added, "Such an amazing story! Glad you are still here with us."
