David Bowie's daughter posed 'weird' without realizing she'd recreated dad's iconic 1977 album cover

Sometimes artistic legacy just runs through veins, and this celebrity story might just be the proof for that.

A lighthearted park snapshot taken during teenage years later took on a striking new meaning when it resurfaced in a completely different context. While revisiting old memories, Alexandia “Lexi” Zahra Jones, daughter of David Bowie, came across the image and was taken aback by how closely it mirrored one of her father’s iconic 1977 album covers. She shared the comparison on her Instagram (@_p0odle_) on May 26, 2026, which has since amassed more than 34,000 likes.

Unbelievable coincidence

Lexi was stunned when her decade-old photo looked eerily similar to her dad's legendary 1977 album "Heroes," where he struck the same distinctive pose captured by photographer Masayoshi Sukita. Lexi's old park photo with her friend looked like a deliberate, personal homage to her father. However, to everyone's surprise, including hers, that wasn't the case. On the contrary, up until this moment, she had never seen that album cover.

In fact, she wrote in her caption, "I also wasn’t really listening to his music or even that kind of music/era in general yet, so it wasn’t an intentional reference or homage or anything like that. I still honestly don’t know what to make of it. Probably just a bizarre coincidence, but it genuinely freaked me out when I realized it."

Firstborn daughters often mimic Dad

Well, even though it may seem like a mere coincidence on the surface, genetics could have something to do with it. According to psychologist Silvia Severino, firstborns, especially daughters, might inherit their father's personality. She explains how first daughters not only inherit physical traits, but also in many ways resemble their dad. This could explain why, even without knowing, Lexi tried to strike a bizarre pose similar to her father.

Moreover, she's also a musician just like her dad, further bolstering this theory. Despite that, she doesn't want to be defined by just her dad's legacy, as she opened up during a recent interview. She stated that she gets a "very weird feeling" when people come up to her and comfort her by bringing up her dad. Although she acknowledged they have good intentions, she still feels that comparing her to her dad makes her lose her individuality, something she values highly as an artist.

No doubt she's Bowie Jr., netizens say

Regardless, people in the comments section were also left stunned by this unusual coincidence. @lola_star wrote, "There is no doubt the same spirit is in you. I love watching you grow as an artist. I’m sure he is so proud." Meanwhile, @wizzzkidworld commented, "This photo shoot was actually him just moving and doing his hair; this is just a cool shot that was taken. Interesting fact that he didn’t actually purposefully pose like that. He said it in a video/interview I’ve watched before, and people question it. Can view the photoshoot and clearly see his movements."
