Family is the very essence of life. Their support and love float us through the different challenges in life. It is extremely hard to be away from family for an extended period. However, sometimes work commitments and circumstances come in between. A former scaffolder who worked in the fly in fly out (FIFO) industry in Australia was also away from home and his toddler. He recently got the chance to go back home and meet his little daughter. The emotional reunion between the two melted hearts online.

The dad—who goes by @scaffdad3 on TikTok—shared the tender moment with everyone on the platform. He often posts videos of his daughter in different stages of growing up and how they reunite every time he gets back home after his long absence. As a FIFO worker, he has to spend several days at a stretch working at remote locations and he can not visit home before his work is over. However, when he returned from work at one point, he had his little daughter waiting for him by the front door.

His daughter dissolved a mix of tears and laughter and did not take more than a few seconds to run up to her dad and give him a big hug. The dad crouched down to engulf her in his arms as the caption read, "It was the day he decided to give up his FIFO job." The little girl is scooped up by his father as she giggles with joy and continues to hug him. The video captured the attention of over 17 million viewers and amassed thousands of comments. @ella_return2roots shared, "My dad worked FIFO for 40 years. I used to walk home from school daydreaming about him coming home and surprising us."

@maegen.lyn remarked, "Surely this isn't worth missing out on. FIFO isn't worth that! I'm glad you're home with your baby." @vada_sincere commented, "My mum did FIFO when I was a teen and I only saw her less than 100 times a year for 5 years. I grew up hating her for not being there, but now I understand why." @trinaaf70 wrote, "A part of me wants to hear that lovely laugh on a loop and the other part of me doesn't know if my heart can handle it! Such a beautiful moment. I've cried along with her about 10 times."

In a second video, the dad shared how he had missed watching his daughter crawl for the first time because he was away for work. However, when she met him at the airport, she managed to run with her little steps to greet him. "I missed a few milestones before quitting fly in fly out. My wife would always send updates through my swing (work cycle), baby crawling and the baby's first wobbly steps. Seeing my baby grow each time I returned from work started to be an issue for me. As soon as I landed at work, I just wanted to be home. From a 21 and 7 roster in construction, that last week before getting home really drags! But seeing my wife and baby would put me on track. Time flies by really fast when you are with the people you love," he wrote in the caption.

According to Bravus Mining and Resources, the FIFO work stands for the "fly in and fly out" method of employment. In the past few years, the FIFO work in Australia has grown in popularity with the expansion of the mining and resources sectors. This method of employment typically requires the workers to travel to a remote site and out of the site again once their shifts or "swing" are done. FIFO workers typically work 12-hour shifts for a set number of consecutive days on-site, followed by a period at home.

A week off sounds good, but it flies by really fast when you are with the people you love.
