Several parents and adults thanked the dad-daughter duo for their entertaining lesson on slang phrases.
With constant evolution in dynamics and communication, it is hard for older generations to keep up with new vocabulary. Right from fashion to the way one speaks, everything changes constantly and now Gen Alpha has outdone even the GenZs. The only solution is to join forces and learn from the new-age creators. A dad named Damon Sharpe–who goes by @damonsharpe on TikTok–shared a video revealing that his Gen Alpha daughter has taken up the remarkable task of teaching him all the slang words he needs to know. Sharpe mentioned that he would be working with Gen Alpha artists and to help him function smoothly, his daughter took the onus to teach him the basic phrases or words that are the new communication.
The dad and daughter were seated beside each other, ready to do some serious learning and prep the dad for his job. Sharpe shared common words as he knows them, those likely to be used during communication and his daughter effortlessly replaced them with the Gen Alpha slang. Ranging from words that can be guessed to those that one may have never heard before, this is quite a learning for all. “Good,” the dad said. The girl replied, “Sigma.” “Bad” was replaced with a bizarre word, “Skibidi.” “Delusional” was more commonly replaced as “delulu.” Most of the slang was unrelated to the word, but the dad was pretty keen on understanding and learning.
“Romantic” was replaced with “Rizz,” “Not true” with “Cap” and “the greatest ever” with a very familiar word, “GOAT.” It was surprising that the girl, who was likely in her preteens or teens, knew the slang flawlessly and was even teaching her dad the same. Coming to more unique and unusual words and phrases, the girl shared alternative slang that was unimaginable and presumably senseless to older generations. “Booty,” the dad said with much curiosity, wondering what it could be replaced with. However, his daughter shocked him with the slang "gyat.” “To look better than someone” was shortened to “mogging.”
There is also a new name in town for those whom we love. “Dear,” “Love,” “Darling” and “Sweetheart” are now vintage terms. The modern word for this is “Pookie.” The words were out of this world, quite difficult for us to grasp, just like it was for Sharpe. He was a little astounded by the alternatives Gen Alpha has come up with, but it is quite fervently used by them. “Something weird” is now nothing but “Sus.” The slang has our attention to see what Gen Alpha’s come up with next! “Gotta adapt to the times as a songwriter,” the dad wrote in his caption.
Several parents and adults thanked the dad-daughter duo for their helpful lesson on slang. @laurengolding hilariously wrote, “My son told me I don’t have ‘Skibidi fizz’ the other day and I thought he was having a stroke. Thank you for this.” @jusssaying added, “My 12-year-old always calls me Pookie. I had no idea.” @btothepbruv wasn’t having it and hysterically said, “If any of these words become a normal conversation in the next 10 years, I am going to live on a farm with sheep by myself.”
