Sometimes the best dating advice comes from the most unexpected places. CinematicWire (@cinematicwire) shares some of the most 'unforgettable movie and actor moments' on Instagram. On March 28, they shared a clip from the 1993 crime and thriller film, 'A Bronx Tale.' The scene depicted Calogero (Lilo Brancato) opening the car door for Jane (Taral Hicks). According to Sonny's (Chazz Palminteri) advice, what a woman does next after a man opens the door might reveal the kind of person she is. The video received 21,600 views, 581 likes, and 3 comments.

Wait before getting in the car

Sonny told Calogero that whenever he had to drop a woman off at home, he should open the door for her to get into his car. However, he should not immediately get into the car himself. This was where the woman would reveal her true character. If she reached over to open the man's side of the door, "she's a keeper." But if she chose to ignore the man and just wait for him to get in, it showed the kind of person she was. The caption explained, "It’s such a small gesture, but that’s what makes the moment powerful. Sonny isn’t talking about doors — he’s talking about character, awareness, and whether someone thinks about others or only themselves."

Jane passed the test

The clip showed Calogero opening the door for Jane. He waited for a few seconds to see what she would do next, and when she reached for his side of the door to open the car lock, he shouted excitedly. When he got inside the car, he said, "I knew you were one of the great ones." When she asked him what he meant, he brushed her off, saying, "Nevermind, it's an Italian thing," happy that she passed the test.

Is chivalry dead?

Pelin Gul, a social psychologist and postdoctoral researcher at Iowa State University, conducted a study to see how women feel about men opening doors for them, paying for dinner, and more. She noted that some women admire that behavior, while others hate it. Gul said, "Women might perceive these men more likely to be patronizing and undermining. However, because these behaviors imply willingness to protect, provide, and commit, it is an important mate preference for women. That’s why they find these men more attractive." Another study conducted by Zhou Lu on 'Courteous Behavior' found that men had a higher likelihood of opening doors, while women had a higher probability of doors being opened for them. Additionally, a 2010 Harris Poll found that 8 out of 10 Americans are of the view that "Women today are treated with less chivalry than in the past."
