The actor was delighted to pass the baton to a young, charming and adorable 11-year-old with words of wisdom and support.

The Harry Potter franchise stole many hearts and helped raise generations and build their imaginations. Daniel Radcliffe, the iconic “Harry Potter,” has been at the center of the lives of many and passing this baton is a massive step. Shouldering the responsibility is Dominic McLaughlin, according to Variety. When Radcliffe wrote to the young man stepping into his shoes, he undoubtedly had words of encouragement and wisdom to share, per Good Morning America on November 19. In return, McLaughlin responded with a “sweet note” that touched the actor’s heart.

Being cast as Harry Potter would be a dream come true for so many. The series, also starring Arabella Stanton as Hermione and Alastair Stout as Ron, received much love from the original actors, per BBC News. While the team has begun production, the series is set to debut in 2027, per The Independent. Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO of HBO & Max Content, remarked, “We are delighted to allow audiences to discover Hogwarts in a whole new way. Harry Potter is a cultural phenomenon and it is clear there is such an enduring love and thirst for the Wizarding World.”

Undoubtedly, McLaughlin has what it takes to ace the role — and we’re not talking about just his adorable cheeky smile that resembles his predecessor. “I was a huge Harry Potter fan when I was younger so it’s such a dream role,” he said, per BBC Newsround. Radcliffe only hopes that the new debutant will have an experience of a lifetime. “I wouldn’t say that anyone who is going to play Harry has to [reach out to me],” he noted. However, he added that he is aware of how the production is going and wanted to share his best wishes with the young artist. “I wrote to Dominic and sent him a letter, and he sent me a very sweet note back,” Radcliffe recalled.

The “Now You See Me 2” actor recalled writing words of encouragement to McLaughlin, along with friendly advice. “I don’t want to be a specter in the life of these children but I just wanted to write to him to say, ‘I hope you have the best time, and an even better time than I did — I had a great time, but I hope you have an even better time,’” he wrote. For Radcliffe, who spent a decade with the franchise, it is undoubtedly very close to his heart. To him, it is inspiring and impressive news that these youngsters are ready to embark upon the magical journey and exhibit their talent.
“I just see these pictures of him and the other kids and I just want to hug them,” he said. Radcliffe further added, "They just seem so young. I just look at them and say, ‘Oh, it's crazy I was doing that at that age.' But it's also incredibly sweet and I hope they're having a great time.” BBC London shared a glimpse of the filming on London’s Borough High Street. McLaughlin (Harry Potter) and Nick Frost (Hagrid) were seen alongside their body doubles while doing a shot.
