Having someone who looks out for you and listens when you need it most is priceless. After a tough day, there's nothing better than coming home and sharing your struggles with a parent or guardian. Opening up to someone you trust can lift your spirits in ways nothing else can. One Reddit user, u/sneezedr424, shared a touching text exchange with their dad that’s leaving people emotional. While the full conversation likely spanned many messages, they shared the part that mattered most.

"Thank you for always having my back," the text message to the person's dad read. "Today was so rough but talking with you made it substantially less so. You always encourage me to see the better light in things and help me find solutions to frustrating and difficult problems. Even the simple act of hearing your voice makes me smile and relaxes me. I love you more than you will ever know. Thanks for being everything that you are." In response to the heartfelt text, the father simply wrote, "I am your dad. That is all I ever wanted to be." The wholesome exchange inspired the Reddit community to come forward to share their heartwarming stories with their parents and how they have been their children's rock in difficult times.

Good on this person for showing their appreciation for their dad." u/wil revealed, "As a son, I did not have this dad. As a dad, I'm doing everything I can to be this dad to my sons." u/Unlucky_Most_8757 mentioned, "I was complaining or talking about some rough issues in my life the other day for the millionth time to my Dad and I apologized because I know it can be annoying to listen to someone so much and give advice constantly. He just said 'You're my Daughter and I love you! It's my job!' (Not in a bad way) On the opposite side now that I'm an adult I see that my Dad has some of the same insecurities, fears and bad days that I do too. I always make sure that I'm also a sounding board for him as well."

u/DougDoesLife commented, "I’m very happy for you that you have this support and love in your life. I know you appreciate this from your posts and comments. Cherish it always. You’re very fortunate." The original poster responded to this comment and wrote, "He's done so much for my little brother and me over the years and now that we're both adults well into our careers and futures, we do everything we can to spoil him. He doesn't make it easy though, haha! I like to make sure he knows how loved and appreciated he is. Today flat-out sucked. So many things went wrong, and I'm in a job where I kind of just have to deal, haha, calling him afterward made it all better. He's amazing." u/MadamNatureGalaxy3 added, "You two are so sweet. The way you express your feelings to him shows that you're comfortable being vulnerable with him. I wish my dad had been that for me too."
