Dad who claimed to not be a cat person ends up building his cats a special 'catio' from scratch

We know about dads who say a clear 'no' when we wish to bring a furry feline home. The next thing we know, dads are cuddled up with three cats and would go to the end of the Earth to pamper them. Most animal lovers know it is completely justified if we want to spoil our animal companions with love in many forms. After all, this is the least we could do for those who make our brains flood with dopamine. Proving this, one cat dad built a catio for his kings and queens of hearts to have a good time.

Cat parents of Tuscan Herb and Cruiser Blue posted on their TikTok account @darienneslocum on August 25 how the cat dad put in time and effort to build the best catio he could. A catio is a domestic cat enclosure, also known as a cat cage, cat run, or catservatory. It is a basic patio for cats and a permanent or temporary structure designed to confine a cat or numerous cats to a defined region where the cat can experience the outside.

The clip received 6.5 million views and was captioned "him: 'I’m not a cat person' also him: "Followed by a majestic handmade catio. The multi-story catio was built for them to explore and enjoy the outdoors without fear of fleeing or becoming prey to a predator. Tuscan and Cruiser naturally spent all of their time outside after the catio was finished, loving the fresh air and watching creatures dart back and forth across the yard. The video shows the dad measuring, chopping and hammering pieces of food. Then, once the net and paint are on, he put up a pink ribbon for the opening ceremony. The cats entered the catio and comfortably explored the space and bathed in the sun.

Cats must interact with nature under supervision in order to preserve their overall well-being and provide them with necessary mental and physical stimulation. While indoor spaces provide safety and security, they may lack the variety and sensory stimulation that outside habitats give.

Cat parents of Chase, Millie and Skye also built them a catio. A video posted by @dontstopmeowing which gained almost four million views showed us the mixed reactions of the three cats. As they are introduced to the catio one by one, they initially explore and find the space to be a bit weird but eventually, they settle down and seem to love spending time in the catio under fresh air and sunlight. "Chase has grown accustomed to the catio, while Skye and Millie just find themselves backing off," observed @ranger_saint. "I can’t wait to give mine a catio one day!" wrote @Eevee & Yoshi.
