The dad had planned everything and was all set on acting cool, but the moment he dropped off his son, he got extremely emotional.
Every parent remembers the first day of dropping their kids to kindergarten or preschool. It is a bittersweet feeling that tells them their kids are taking the next step in their lives and they are growing up. At the same time, some parents get emotional over leaving their kids under the care of their teacher and in the company of their classmates. One such video clip shared by mom Mary Mo Harper–who goes by @marymoniharp on TikTok–is winning over the internet. The Las Vegas resident recorded herself and her husband Samajee after they dropped their 3-year-old son Isaiah to his first day of preschool.
"I was crying, but then my husband started crying so hard that it made me laugh," Harper wrote on the clip. As she briefly points her camera to capture her husband's expressions, all we can see is the dad sniffling and wiping his eyes. "I thought I was gonna be cool, bruh," Samajee's voice cracks as he admits getting overwhelmed with emotions. The 38-second-long video has garnered over 7 million views so far. Harper, a kindergarten teacher by profession, had a chat with TODAY where she revealed how her husband bursting into tears was something she never anticipated.

"I don't think I'd even seen him cry before!" Harper told the outlet, referring to the incident. She also added that she was "grateful for the comic relief her husband brought as she was bawling her eyes out when they got the car." "Everything was fine until I said, 'Isaiah, Mommy and Daddy are leaving now,'" she recalled. "And that's when he gives us the saddest face I've ever seen in my life. Then he starts crying those silent tears." That was the moment Harper realized "she was falling apart." "I'm crying and hugging him and expecting my husband to be like, 'Girl, get it together, let's go,' but I looked over and his eyes are bloodshot,'" she recalled about the time before they left Isaiah under the care of his teacher.
"His teacher was holding him and consoling him, so I felt a million times better, but Sam, not so much. He kept going, 'I'm not OK. I'm not OK.' It was so sad but also hilarious," the mom added. After that day, Isaiah's school drop-offs have been easier than the first day for his parents. "It was just that first day," Harper claimed. "Now we're all good — even Sam." Parents on TikTok could not hold back from sharing their own moments of dropping off their kids for the first time at preschool. @datdamnpoohbear joked, "Why does it look like y'all haven't left the preschool parking lot?"
@homeofthevirgo remarked, "Meanwhile, the kids playing with blocks probably made like 3 friends in 4 minutes." @yvonne5603 wrote, "This is the cutest, also sad I understand I went through this too with kids, they are all grown now except for 1 left, he will be 16 next month and I cried over that they grow so fast. God bless you guys." @denisehowell recalled, "I remember crying for hours. Even went back to see if he was o.k. I ended up taking the whole day off." @bibierotica added, "Mom made me drop my brother off on the 1st day of pre-k and he was crying, please don't leave me. I had the other moms holding me and telling me it's gonna be okay, I was so heartbroken."
