Dad places custom 'Sammy' stickers along daughter's daily commute route: 'A little dad reminder'

We all have fond childhood memories that we keep close to our hearts. For this father-daughter duo, an adorable doodle of a little face carries many memories and they decided to do something special with it. A heartwarming video of their wholesome plan for the character called Sammy was uploaded on TikTok by Sarah (@sirbroccoli).

Sarah's now-viral video begins with her explaining how her dad, Mark, has always had an appreciation for the stickers people leave around the city and how they bring joy to the everyday lives of people. "Every time my dad comes to visit me, he comments on the stickers that people place everywhere. He just thinks that they're really fun and silly and cute," she says. "So I digitized this little character that my dad has always drawn on letters, paper tablecloths. Like anything, growing up. I turned them into his own little stickers so that he could place them all over the city. And he was so happy."

Sarah then reveals that her father was touched by the gesture and he decided to "put them in places where I walk frequently, so that I will always walk by and see them and think of him. And it was just adorable."

In the video, the doting father is seen sticking his "Sammy" stickers on various surfaces through the streets, such as poles and pillars near shops. "I swear to God, immediately, I loved it. And thought, this is fantastic," he told Good Morning America. He also explained his perspective about the sticker, "He is just a little, silly guy. I called him Sammy. He has got a kind of curious face. It sort of leaves a lot of interpretation, I think."

Sarah added, "I live in Brooklyn and work in the city. So I have to commute every single day. There is a sticker on one of the lamp posts outside my apartment. And then, there is one near my office. So, it's just like a little dad reminder every time I am commuting."

"He looked so happy when he started placing them. He would place them and step back and admire them," she noted. She shared that she initially started recording a video of him placing the stickers with the intention of perhaps sharing it on her Instagram story. However, she was utterly unprepared for the response it got on TikTok with over 7.2 million views. Sarah said she was "blown away that it is still blowing up. There is like over 6 million views, which is just like crazy."

Her father also reacted to the video going viral. "Some people also said on Sarah's post, send us some stickers, so we can put them up in places. I'm like, no, that is not really the point. Partly, it is coming from an artistic standpoint, from us or we putting them up. Not you putting them up," he pointed out.

Sarah also discussed how these little moments of putting stickers brought them together and made them feel present in the moment. She also reminded us that, no matter how much we grow up, we will always miss our parents. She called these stickers "a little dad reminder." What a beautiful way to share laughter and love!
