Nothing was coming in this dad's way of showing up for his daughter and he made that very, very clear.

No parent wants to miss their child’s firsts, especially milestones like birthdays, which can be planned in advance. A mom who goes by u/Pure_Remove_6678 shared the lengths her husband went to so that he wouldn’t miss his daughter’s first birthday — certainly not because he was stuck at work. The man wrote a leave “request” on his company’s forms with a wholesome warning that has the internet in awe. Rest assured, he got that leave because his determination and caveat were adorably taken heed of. Posted on November 22, the story has readers cooing over the father-daughter bond.

The woman shared a glimpse of the leave form. “My husband's managers are abusive beyond belief to their employees and rarely approve time off. But they darn sure approved this one,” she wrote in the caption. It was a regular printed form with the required elements to fill in, depending on the type of leave. However, the man wanted to make it very clear that he needed this leave no matter what. The title of the form read, “Request for/ Notification of Absence.” The dad casually struck out the request, retaining only the “Notification” part, clarifying that he wasn’t asking for leave but was informing them of it.

The rest of the details of the employee were filled in as usual. It’s one remark that has the internet stunned. In the “remarks” section, the dad wrote a personal two-liner. It was a crystal clear warning from a loving and present dad. It read, “It’s my daughter’s 1st birthday. You would need to kill me dead to stop me from being there.” This man was taking his leave, come storm or rain. No matter what, he was going to show up and be present for his daughter’s big milestone, and nothing was getting in the way of it — not even his employers. When asked whether the bold approach worked and whether his leave was approved, the woman revealed in a comment, “Yep!”

Rest assured, this dad is going to prioritize perfectly and be a top-notch parent. The internet was stoked to see his brave and humorously adorable stance. Many people acknowledged how important a first birthday is and commended the dad for being serious about it. u/Ellie_Anna_13 pointed out, “It's the way he crossed out 'request' for me. Yes. Now that's a dad. He is not missing his little girl's first birthday. That's an annual day off for him.” u/Kidwithoutgun noted, “As an expecting father, this hits home. My job has no paternity leave for the father. I can take up to 6 weeks of unpaid leave by law, but who can do that? I'm using all my vacation time for the expected due date.”

u/Irejay907 wrote, “Yay! That's great for you guys and good everyone is on the same page! I LOVE the sass this note is giving.” u/dreamsofpickle added, “My husband did the same for our first Halloween with our daughter. He said, ‘I requested Halloween off and if you put me on I'm going to no show so don't bother.’” u/ieatbacononocassion remarked, “This is how it should be. If you work for a decent company, family comes first.”
