With Pride Month just passing us by, it presents a great opportunity for people to learn and educate others about the LGBTQIA+ community. A gay dad seized that chance with his toddler as they were decorating their door with a Pride flag. The toddler was talking to his dad about the warm weather as he helped him put the flag on their doorway. "Why did you buy that?" the kid wondered. "It's a decoration for this month. Because this month is all about love and rainbows and being proud of who you are, being proud of who daddy and papa are." He added, "A rainbow is a good way to show that. The rainbow is a very special way to show that." The kid chimed in, "It is... I love rainbows" and the dad continued to work on fixing the flag on their doorway. The caption read, "Happy Pride." The video received more than 661,000 views and over 34,400 likes.

Many families celebrate Pride Month and take a moment to educate their kids about Pride and acceptance for every individual. Moms, Sarah and Laura Smith, who have two daughters, Annabelle and Matilda, explained to the BBC how they celebrate Pride at their house. Laura explained, "Pride is a bit like Christmas in our house. On 1 June, we get out all our rainbow decorations, headgear, and clothes. Annabelle loves dressing up and we dance around to Pride playlists." She added, "She’s too young to understand the history of Pride, but we’ve explained we’re supporting people just like us. It’s all about celebrating our differences."

Sarah even highlighted the importance of keeping the conversations going after the month is over. "The celebrations and rainbow clothes spark conversations with your child, which is great. But it’s important to celebrate our differences all the time." People shared their thoughts on Chad's explanation in the comments section of the video. @jennaaharvey wrote, "Ugh, be careful. When you speak to your children with this level of respect and love, they become great people." @weirdotoast commented, "My daughter asked why mine looks different because it's the bi flag. I told her this one is just special, so mommy feels included too."

@auntjennyrules remarked, "I have watched RuPaul's Drag Race with my 4-year-old nephew a lot of times. He doesn't ever ask if they're boys. He simply sees pretty 'women' on TV and he likes their outfits, hair, and make-up and he likes the challenges they have to do. Hate is taught to our children; they're not born hating one race, gender, sexual identity, etc. They are taught to hate. Simple." @personal.danielwilliams shared, "'Being proud of who you are' is the message. All the straights wanting a straight month, you don't need one....join us in pride...be proud of being straight, be proud that we can all be ourselves authentically and love who we love and know we're all in this together."
