Everyone wants to hold on to childhood memories close to their hearts. It is a time of carelessness, freedom and the liberty to dream big. As adults with responsibilities, people want nothing more than to go back to those times, but it is practically impossible to do so.  However, Andrew—who goes on TikTok by @parental_with_me—seems to have found a way to do this through parenting his son. In a now-viral video, he explains how he has gotten a second chance at reliving his childhood as he gets to spend time with his son. He shares how he can do all the activities that he did when he was little while parenting and this time he is ensuring that he enjoys every minute of it.

The father shares some "unsung benefits" of having children. People constantly talk about how parenting is hard and how important it is to do a good job at it, but they forget to mention the little joys that come along with it. In Andrew's opinion, one of the upsides of having a child is that you get to take another go at being a kid with them.

Andrew adds, “You literally get to relive your childhood through play with them." The key to regaining precious childhood experience, in the father's opinion, is to let your guard down and be open to everything. This is a second chance, and parents should make the most of it so that this time they do not come out with regrets. This also allows them to strengthen their bond with children.

The father's suggestion is if the child asks, "Do you want to play with Play-Doh" you need to say "Yes." If the child wants to play "Connect Four," your answer should be "In." Enjoy everything from Hot Wheels and Pokemon to Harry Potter. He concluded with the sweet message, that not only will adults get to have another chance, "You get to watch this person that's never experienced this thing that you loved, start to love it themselves." The opportunity to create such a memory should never be missed.

The comment section was happy seeing the unadulterated joy on the father's face .@garkmom completely understands the message, "Halloween, Christmas, zoos, children's museums, arcades, fireworks, everything that maybe lost a little magic as an adult, gets all the magic back." @hibsterb shared how her partner also went through the same thing, "When my husband learned our two-year-old is in love with Pokémon, never seen this man more happy and excited! And he had a good childhood."

In another instance of a parent sharing the joy of raising children, a father on Reddit shared a wholesome experience he had with his 17-year-old daughter. He posted two images, one of which was of a note left by his daughter that read, "Couldn’t sleep so I unloaded/loaded the dishes and tidied up in general," and "If you leave before I wake up, have a good day! Love, Alyssa."

The other image displayed the clean and shining kitchen after his daughter did her part in household responsibilities. The man was touched by such a sweet gesture and captioned the post, "From my 17-year-old daughter. Parenting is hard, but they’ll surprise you sometimes."
