Dad buys all the books daughter wants at the school book fair to heal his inner child

Many people can relate to not having enough money to buy things at a book fair so this dad wanted to go all out.

School book fairs are exciting for everyone, as they have something for everyone. However, several kids can not afford to buy things at such fairs. A dad on TikTok—who goes by @theblackbarrys—shared that he was one of those kids. "So today is the book fair at my daughter's school. Now, if you all were a little broke kid like me, the book fair was a f****** nightmare. I had to watch all the little kids get the scratch-and-sniff erasers. The bookmarks, the post--not my baby!" the dad shared.

He wanted his daughter to go all out so he could live the experience of getting everything he wanted at the book fair through his daughter. "My baby is getting everything she wants. I told her, 'Circle what you want, baby, and Daddy gonna get it for you,'" the excited dad shared in the video. The creator showed off how his daughter had circled eleven items on the paper, including books, posters, pencils, erasers and more. "Now I'm gonna tell you right now she's getting all of it and some!" the dad exclaimed.

His daughter's school did not accept cash. "They have an app where you load up the money onto their cart and they go shopping and if they run low on money, the teacher can text you and be like, 'Hey, they need more bread,'" the man explained. The dad said he would make sure that didn't happen. "I ain't gonna lie, I put like $200 on that ... go crazy for me! Go crazy for Daddy, baby, just do it for me one time," he added. He was eagerly waiting for his daughter to return home and see what she got from the book fair. His wife had gone to pick the daughter up from the book fair.

@darkangelx_x requested the dad to have a book fair haul. So, he made a follow-up video showing everything his daughter, Nala, got from the book fair. Which, much to his dismay, were only three books. The dad looked in her backpack and was quite shocked to make the discovery when he told his daughter to splurge. "You got three things from the book fair?" the man questioned. The daughter laughed and sweetly replied, "Yes, I wanted three." The dad's eyes were wide in surprise as he continued questioning his daughter about how she got only three things.

"So all you got was Mario Kart..., The Old Lady Eating a Worm and Bluey?" the father wondered where the colored pencils, the sharpeners, the scratch and sniff erasers and the posters his daughter had circled. "They didn't give me any of that!" the daughter cutely replied. "You circled 11 things in this catalog, Nala. So you spent $4.99 on Bluey, you spent $6.99 on the Worms lady, you spent $5.99 on Super Mario, and that's all you got. You didn't even get the posters ... look at how many you circled one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, you circled, like nine or ten things and you only got three things!"

The dad wanted to know why the daughter spent only $20 when he had put about $200 in her account. He also told his wife they would return with more stuff. He looked slightly miffed that his daughter hadn't spent more money. "Me and Mommy are going with you tomorrow and I'mma show you how to properly shop at the book fair. 'Cause I couldn't do it, so I'mma show you," the dad declared at the end of the video.

People took to the comments to applaud the dad and daughter and share ways of healing the dad's inner child. @ponysuede commented, "It's a privilege to choose to be frugal. Giving her the opportunity to choose is also a blessing." @eevry1sinsale wrote, "Go volunteer at the fair! It's so satisfying. Plus, you always get to save 2-3 kids whose parents couldn't give them money." @agentbri.ni expressed, "She did not understand the assignment! We love a frugal baby!"
