'I know you work here, so don't give me that attitude,' the woman told her
Sometimes entitlement pushes people into strange territory. A customer mistook an off-duty bakery worker for an employee at a local pizza parlor. This happened despite her wearing blue, in contrast to the staff's bright red uniform. Still, the woman demanded service, ignored the actual pizza crew, and threw a loud tantrum. However, she didn't stop there. When she pointed out that the bakery's sleeve logo proved she was wrong, she used that same branding to track down the worker’s actual store. She then repeatedly called her manager, demanding that the woman be fired. The worker shared the story on Reddit, receiving over 8,400 upvotes.

The incident happened around August 15, 2019, when the post was originally made. It began when the bakery worker entered the pizza parlor after completing her grueling seven-hour shift. Still dressed in her bright blue corporate polo and khaki pants, she entered a local pizza joint where staff wore fire-truck red shirts. She purchased a slice, a soda, and a cookie. The woman then put on her earphones, enjoying her meal at an empty table. Shortly after, another woman walked in. She glared at the bakery worker and immediately placed an order. Naturally, the woman pulled out her earphones and explained she didn't work there.

The woman, however, scoffed at her correction. "First, don't interrupt me; that's very rude. Second, that's a uniform. This is an establishment. I know you work here, so don't give me that attitude," she told her. The confrontation escalated into threats. The woman claimed that she was a valued regular with "more than enough leeway" to cost the diner her livelihood. In response, the weary worker simply turned her arm and pointed at the bakery brand stitched on her sleeve. "See that?" she told her, asking the woman to name the current shop. In the meantime, a kitchen worker appeared to investigate the noise.
The woman spun around and lashed out at the actual staff member. "Yes, there's a problem!" she shouted, claiming her colleague had mistreated her. The counter girl instantly recognized the seated customer from five minutes earlier. “Uh...ma'am, she doesn't work here,” the worker stated. Still refusing to accept the reality, the woman screamed for the manager. The shift lead listened to the wild accusations and gave the exact same answer.

With the manager taking the woman's order at the counter, the bakery worker packed up her leftovers to escape the hostility. But before she could walk out, the counter girl handed her a fresh takeout bag. In it were an extra slice, dipping sauce, and a cookie. It was a token of apology from the staff for the woman's behavior. They even thanked her for being polite. The bakery employee slipped away as the disgruntled patron started demanding a free meal from the manager. Nonetheless, somehow the confrontation didn't end here.
Days later, the bakery worker arrived for her regular shift alongside her close coworker and store lead. During the shift, their visiting district manager dropped by to handle standard corporate reviews. Before wrapping up her inspection, the executive asked for personal advice on a nuisance caller. “She keeps calling to see if I've fired one of our girls,” the executive explained. The strange caller had reached out repeatedly to the bakery headquarters to demand harsh punishment for an unverified employee.
The district manager admitted that the caller had no name and gave only a vague physical sketch. The complainant claimed the target had brown eyes, dark hair, medium skin, and short stature. The executive casually gestured toward the worker herself to show how common the description was. Realization struck the room at once. The coworker and store manager burst out laughing, prompting the worker to confess that the mysterious culprit was indeed her. After finding out the ridiculous truth, the manager promised to block the woman, putting an end to the matter permanently.
This incident is by no means an isolated one. According to a Perceptyx study, a staggering 53% of workers dealing with customers have faced verbal abuse, threats, or unruly behavior in general. As a result of this, employees who have been victims are 1.9 times more likely to disagree that they work in a safe space. Meanwhile, contrary to this woman whose manager sided with her, other workers are also 1.5 times more likely to think that their organization doesn't care about their well-being.

The people, however, were quick to call out the entitled woman. u/TheKillerSmiles wrote, "Wow. Some people just aren’t happy unless they are making other people unhappy." Meanwhile, u/Ace_The_Engineer commented, "I’m late to the party, but how did she expect to get someone fired over a vague description? Hilarious and satisfying ending though!"
