The woman was on a solo date, enjoying a drink, when she noticed this man looking at her in a bar

Marriage sometimes emboldens men with a ring that acts like a safety net, providing them a green signal to "harmlessly" flirt with other women. At least this is what Neith Knight (@goddess.neith) experienced. On July 5, 2026, Knight was about to meet her co-worker for lunch. But when he didn’t show up, she was supposed to feel disappointed. Instead, she felt grateful because she spotted a handsome man who was responding to her signals. In a July 6, 2026, Instagram reel, she shared the shocking moment that unmasked the man. From all the negative connotations the world assigns to men, the most terrifying one turned out to be true.
After she got to know that her co-worker wouldn’t be coming for lunch, she decided to go on a solo date. She visited Chopping Block and placed an order. While waiting, she walked to a bar and got herself a drink. She was enjoying the drink; just then, this “good-looking brother” came inside and walked up to her. He looked at her, and she bashfully looked away. Then, finally, when their eyes locked, she knew he'd gotten the signal: she was interested. The conversation started, and it was going well until Knight received a tap on her shoulder.

“Do you know each other?” A woman standing behind her asked. When Knight answered no, the woman said, “I am his wife.” Shocked, Knight moved on to another table. But as she reflected on that episode, she wondered and asked on Instagram, “Do you all [ladies] believe the saying ‘Ain’t nobody more single than a married man?’”

Knight’s suspicions may not be entirely mistaken. According to a survey of 2,000 adults by the Institute of Family Studies, a surprising 11% (1 in 10) of married adults are on dating sites. The survey found that about one-fourth of young adults using dating apps are married. The report indicated that married men are more likely to be on a dating site than married women. Research published in Cyberpsychology, Behavior, and Social Networking found that out of about 1,400 Tinder users, a whopping 65.3% are “in a relationship” or worse, married. Knight was lucky that the truth revealed itself in time before she had made too much of an emotional investment in the connection, because the man wasn't wearing any ring or anything to indicate that he was married.

Viewers responded with disbelief. Many people requested part 2 of the story, which Knight said will be posted soon. @klcollins19 commented, “A little unsolicited advice: 1) When a man summons you, do not respond. You are a lady; he should come to you. You are neither a child nor the help. 2) Sad, but you must ask these jokers if they are married, separated, in the process of divorcing, in a relationship, or if there is anyone they may think they’re involved with you.” @sav.vaygliving said, “Girl, these men are crazy.” “Placing their whole family in jeopardy,” Knight added in reply.
