Couple's humorous skit on how young parents discipline their kids is 'so spot-on'

Each couple develops their own approach to parenting. Nobody knows exactly what to do when their kids are born, so most couples make it up as they grow up. This can lead to some funny parenting scenarios where it's pretty evident that couples are deciding what kind of parenting approach to take with their kids. TikTok content creator Austen Alexander (@austenalexander) put up a funny skit with another creator, Lindsay Stone, enacting out young parents.

The video is hilariously captioned, "I'm sick and tired of this behavior" and it has been quite popular on the platform, getting 1 million likes and 6643 comments. The short skit involves the couple seated at the front of their car, reacting to their kids hitting each other in the back. The woman turns back and inquires who hit the other and there is some confusion. She looks to the father and remarks, "They're doing it again. They're hitting each other again!"

She emphasizes how there is "no hitting in this family" and asks the dad to step in. The father does not have much to add and hilariously repeats the mother's words. She prods him to say something more, and he asks, "How would you like it if he hit you back?" This does not prove to be very effective as the kid seems to like it and the mother immediately corrects him.

The woman explains how they needed to change their attitude and the father adds that there would be consequences. She asks him to provide examples and the father has to think for a moment before he says that they would not go into the toy store. The woman whispers to him, "Well, we'll have to go to Toys R Us because I have to get the present for Julie." He slowly corrects himself, saying, "Well, your mother will be going inside Toys R Us and we will stay here." 

Seeing how their threats did not have the effect that they intended, the father mentions that he would have to "spank" them if they continued this behavior. This is ironic considering the fact that they are trying to get the kids to stop hitting each other and the mother points it out. They conclude by saying that they would playfully hit each other but that the children should not do it. People loved the funny video that captured the struggles of new parents and shared their thoughts in the comments section.
