'Who knew you could find the love of your life on Reddit?'

They say love can happen anytime, anywhere, and this couple who met on Reddit can vouch for it. On their anniversary, a beautiful couple shared how their very casual conversation as strangers led to a love story straight out of a movie plot. The heartfelt post was shared by the woman (u/inreallife12001) on September 4, 2025.

It all started when the man shared a post that read, "I'm a bored college student looking to talk to people. Ask me absolutely anything." To this, the woman, then 19, replied, saying she was a college student who was also bored, and asked, "What do you plan on doing once you graduate college?" The conversation didn't end there as the man responded, "I'm not entirely sure right now. Ideally, I would find a job in my major and find a place to live. I know, a real generic answer. Haven't thought too far ahead yet." The once-strangers are now partners for life, and 2025 marked their third anniversary. Sharing an adorable picture, the woman wrote, "It’s almost tradition at this point for me to post on this subreddit every year for my anniversary lol. From an r/AMA post [Ask Me Anything] to living together for 2 years and being a couple for 3, I couldn’t imagine life with a better person!

The man was from the Midwest, and the woman was from Washington, D.C., so they had to be in a long-distance relationship for 10 months. They remained friends for 2 years before starting a romantic relationship. "We got together as a couple when I was in my last year of college, so we were long-distance from then until I graduated, and then I moved in with him," she added. When asked about her favorite thing about her man, the woman said it's their identical sense of humor and how her family loved him. "Also, the lengths he’ll go to show me how much he cares are also amazing. He’ll gift me Lego sets if I’m feeling down, and he’s starting to learn Korean because I’m half Korean and he wants to be able to converse with my family better. He just has a big heart, and it’s beautiful to see," she added.

Social media is no longer a platform just for casual networking; in fact, it has become a space for modern-day matchmaking. Just like this couple who met on Reddit, a study assessing 7,226 people found that more than half (52%) of Australian people surveyed (aged 20‑39) said they met their most recent partner online. This reveals a huge shift from traditional romantic setups, where relationships were usually arranged. Moving on, the study also found that online dating was more popular among young adults. For instance, 44% of young people (aged 16 to 29) used the internet to look for romantic matches.

Meanwhile, reacting to the cute love story, u/amel_vyn commented, "This is such a beautiful reminder that love really can be found in the most unexpected places. Who would’ve thought a Reddit conversation would turn into years of love, laughter, and commitment?" u/suspicious_heat_2984, who had a similar story to share, wrote, "My boyfriend and I also met on Reddit. We have happily been together for a year and a half now! It’s been the absolute best relationship of my life. We moved in together last October. Who knew you could find the love of your life on Reddit? Congratulations to you both!"

Another user, u/halseycheme, shared, "Finding love on Reddit is wild and absolutely adorable! It’s even cuter to see how innocent the original interaction was between the two of you. Congratulations to you both, and here’s to many more years."
