Their 22-year-old son got the idea for the project while going through old photo albums earlier this year.
We can easily agree that photos are a peek into the past and might bring back some really happy memories. Also, recreating old photos is quite a trending thing on the internet these days. So when a son helped his parents create their honeymoon photos from 30 years ago, the results turned out to be quite heartwarming. The man named Alessandro Trinchero, who goes by @ale_trinchero on TikTok, shared the photos taken in New York back in 1994 and the ones from 2024 through a video.
Aside from the couple, the photos also capture how much things have changed in New York's cityscape and photography techniques in the past 30 years. The first photo in the series was the man's parents holding hands at the Rockefeller Center. Another one was of the dad posing at Central Park. The next photo showed that the Chrysler Building has remained the same in 30 years but the picture quality has drastically changed. In a photo of his mom at Midtown West, the hoarding behind her in the photos seemed to be the most drastic change. In terms of the city's look, Times Square had changed the most. It had colorful printed hoarding in the '90s while everything has become digital in the 2024 photo.
The person's mom had the same bright smile in both the photos at the Rockefeller Rink and the Radio City Hall looked pretty much the same. The photos also featured the World Trade Center before the attack and after its renovation. The video ended with the parents' date pictures at West Village. The 22-year-old told Newsweek that his parents' love inspired him to take up the project. Trinchero got the idea when he was looking at old photos earlier in the year and suggested a trip to the US. The family currently lives in Australia.
"I initially suggested the trip to the U.S. as more of a daydream. To my surprise, they loved the idea and thought it would be a lot of fun. My parents hadn't been back to North America since their honeymoon in 1994, and I'd never been to the U.S. myself, so it felt like the perfect opportunity to check off a few things on our bucket lists," the man told the outlet. "I've come to really appreciate the value in capturing those seemingly small moments that, with time, take on a deeper meaning. One of life's most intriguing mysteries to me is how we often don't realize the significance of certain moments until we look back on them later. That's why it's so important for me to document these fleeting moments—for my future self, or even for my kids someday. There's something vital about capturing real, unfiltered moments," he added.
The man also got to listen to a lot of his parents' old stories because of the trip and those proved to be very special. People took to the comments section to appreciate the project. @mommairish wrote, "The World Trade Center. But how lucky to have been able to see it in person. I never did. Parents still look fabulous." @rmcg1996 pointed out, "Crazy that Samsung and Coca-Cola were both still on the billboard. This is gorgeous." @3anyela1 expressed, "This made me realize that time is passing no matter what. We should really just enjoy without thinking a lot."
