The family members were shocked into silence as they watched Chan reject Mack in front of them, leaving an awkward pause hanging in the air.
Public proposals can be a tricky business, especially when you haven't talked it over or gauged the potential response from your significant other. A family was shocked into silence when a proposal in front of them went wrong as the woman rejected her boyfriend. Or it appeared that way until the couple revealed it was all a prank and they were already engaged. The celebrations were wild and there was joy all around but a few said that playing a prank centered around a huge decision wasn't the right thing to do. The video posted by TikTok user @Mack.Live shows his family and friends being shocked after his girlfriend Chan rejects him in the backyard of a home. The failed marriage proposal went viral, garnering close to 880,000 views and 100,000 likes.
Many were already anticipating the proposal, with Mack and Chan in the center of the gathering, and had their phones out to film the moment, reported Comicsands. As expected, Mack went down on one knee and popped out a ring, proposing to Chan. She was overwhelmed but when she saw the ring her face fell. She shook her head and an awkward silence hung over the gathering that was raucous and joyful until that moment. Chan was pointing to the ring and shaking her head, and it became apparent that the proposal had failed. While people looked on awkwardly, a few put away their phones. Two of them walked into the home past Chan eager to escape the awkward scene.
Chan then spoke to the crowd directly about how she didn't like the ring, before, without skipping a beat, announcing that they were already engaged. She held up her ring finger and everyone broke out in loud cheers. The video went viral and people couldn't get enough of the heartwarming scene. "Look at all these beautiful black people," wrote one person, referring to the infectious energy. "Now that was a prank!!! Lady was so upset she went in the house Lolol πππ," added another. Many said the woman who walked into the house was too upset, especially considering the relief on her face after Chan announced they were already engaged. "The girl in the white has to be his sister. She wasnβt having it π," one user said.
"Not the lady with the hat trying to disappear from embarrassment πππ," said another user, referring to the woman trying to look down after the proposal went south. A few felt the prank went too far. "I know it was a prank but the lady trying to convince her to say yes is upsetting me.. never make a girl feel forced to say yes to this if it wasnβt," noted one person. "It was bout to be a family rumble," she wrote. "Lol, the lady in the blue jean outfit stopped recording then started back after the fact ππ." Another said, "She was a few seconds away from getting cussed out." One user wrote, "One of the cousins had to excuse themselves π She was about to go awffff."
