While many family members disapproved of the couple helping out their daughter-in-law, the in-laws were gladly backed by people on the internet.

Some thoughtful and considerate people make the world a better place by standing up for what is right and just. Even when the cause they are standing up for requires giving up their own kith and kin, they still choose what's right over what's necessary. But being righteous comes with its own share of criticisms. One such mother faced a lot of disapproval from family members for going against her son and sticking up for her daughter-in-law and grandson. u/AccAltD3099 posted her concern on Reddit, seeking reassurance for her and her husband's decision and people rallied around the couple's choices.

Supporting their children's future by leaving them an inheritance is one of the ways parents express their love and care. But not all children reciprocate the same devotion. For them, inheritance is simply viewed as an advantage. In her post, the mother shared that she and her husband were cutting their son out of their will for a valid reason. "My son mistreated and eventually cheated on his now ex-wife while she was 3 months post-partum," mentioned the mother and added, "He is leaving town to go be with the other woman and seemingly has no regrets."

As the son ruthlessly abandoned his wife and his newborn son, his parents decided to teach him a lesson. Whatever inheritance they planned to give their son, they decided to give it to their daughter-in-law and grandbaby instead. The mom shared that once her son heard about the change in the couple's will, he went on "a campaign to guilt and shame" his parents for their decision. "Sadly, many family members are taking his side and calling my daughter-in-law now 'an outsider' or 'not family,' saying we're making a mistake that will cost us our son," wrote the concerned mother.

Despite their good intentions, the couple received unreasonable backlash from their relatives, triggered by their inconsiderate son. But they are not ready to give up on their grandson's future. "We are getting heat and criticism and it's bothersome and exhausting, but we're standing our ground because we feel like it's only fair to make sure our grandbaby and his mother get a stable life after what my son did to them," wrote the thoughtful mother. As the mother bore her soul posting on the community, more than 9.6K comments poured in her favor, assuring that the parents made the right decision and that the son deserved it.

"Your son is mad that he won't get part of the will because he's your son but isn't registering that he isn't taking care of his child. This is also a lot of life mess to be going through at 24-ish. But honestly, who cares, he has a child now, time to grow up," commented u/SoloBurger13. "I'm proud of you for putting an innocent baby and its mother first in this instead of doing the 'my son can do no wrong' b**ls**t. Your money belongs to you and you can do as you please with it, it doesn't belong to your son. Your son decided to be a bad father and abandon your grandbaby. You decided to help and I think that's wonderful," wrote u/Resagarden. "Good for you. The culture of silently defending abusers and cheaters is disgusting. So many families will just turn their backs on children once the father abandons them," pointed out u/AffectionateDeadDeer.
