Problematic family kept parking in neighbor's driveway — so a neighbor made phone calls to a tow truck driver and a cop to pull off devious plan

The couple also tried to turn in the family's teen son for underage drinking

A chaotic family moved into an American neighborhood, disrupting the peace. Not only were they unhygienic, but they also continuously troubled the neighbors by blocking their driveways with multiple vehicles. The first few times, the residents tried to resolve the issue peacefully, but the family didn't cooperate, forcing a couple to call the police and have the illegally parked cars towed without warning. A resident who goes by u/wanttoavoiddramma recalled how they befriended a cop and a tow truck driver for epic revenge on the problematic family.

The family owned four vehicles, but they could only park two in their driveway. So, they conveniently left their vehicles in front of other people's houses for weeks. In fact, it looked like the family enjoyed watching the neighbors struggle daily. "They started parking deliberately in ways to make it difficult to get out of our driveways," the resident shared in the Reddit post. When the situation slipped out of control, the neighbors, after inquiring at a police station, painted yellow lines near their driveways to stop illegal parking. But even then, the family kept breaking rules and troubling the neighbors.

Almost everyone had lost hope until a couple from the neighborhood befriended an officer at a social gathering. On a particular Saturday, the teenage son from the problematic family had arranged a house party, and all guests had either parked in someone else's driveway or had blocked them altogether. Seeing an opportunity, they called on the non-emergency line after talking to their cop friend.

The resident also called a tow truck driver that their husband was friends with and informed him about the illegally parked vehicles. "I tell him our plan, and I also mention that the party is likely going to be filled with underage drinkers," they recalled. Next, the couple made anonymous calls about various underage people inside the party, which made their friendly police officer approached the house. "As they knock on the door, lights go out, music shuts off, and the house goes quiet," the resident wrote. So, while the tow truck driver was busy towing the illegally parked vehicles, the party guests were forced to remain inside the house, scared to be caught for underage drinking.

By Sunday, three vehicles had been brought back, but this time they parked "just shy" of the yellow lines. "My husband and a couple of neighbors also spent Sunday putting up some new cameras. They were all very giddy and loud about it all — something about 'all the lights and police on Saturday made them nervous,' LOL," the resident concluded.

Arguments with neighbors over parking spaces are quite common. In fact, a survey by Churchill Motor Insurance found that nearly half (48%) of UK respondents are struggling because their neighbors have either blocked their driveway, garage, or parking space. While the survey found that 35% are constantly competing with their neighbors for parking, 18% leave objects to prevent access to their allocated parking spaces. Moreover, the survey found that 16% of homeowners have argued with their neighbors over unresolved parking issues.

Meanwhile, reacting to the Reddit story, u/protato900 shared, "You're a better person than most of my neighbors. Week 2 of this would have resulted in every tire of their cars getting knifed and every body panel keyed. My neighbors take no shit, thankfully. We're a tight-knit group." u/okin_boredson suggested, "You should invite all the good neighbors and the friends involved to celebrate the win, preferably in the house right next to them, only mildly disturbing the shit neighbors so your police friend doesn't have to ticket you, lol."
