Couple eating their wedding cake a year after freezing it hilariously realises their gaffe

Weddings include a lot of work, hurry, and hassle; some goof-ups are almost inevitable.

During weddings, the newlywed couple is often so busy entertaining guests and soaking in the excitement of the day that they barely have time to enjoy their carefully curated menu. Among all the details, perhaps the biggest regret is not getting the chance to savor the wedding cake. Thankfully, a long-standing custom allows couples to freeze the top tier of their wedding cake, saving it for their first anniversary as a way to relive the special day.

Many couples follow this tradition, freezing the smaller top tier to share on their one-year anniversary. That’s exactly what one couple did—but with a surprising twist. In a video shared by Andrea Estefania, who goes by @itsdreaestefania on TikTok, something unexpected happens when the couple takes their first bite. The overlay text reads, “Trying our wedding cake a year later to find out they made the wrong flavor.” The video begins with Estefania’s husband offering her a big bite of cake, which she happily accepts—only to discover the surprise.

She seemed to be enjoying the cake at first, but then some confusion seemed to set in. After wondering to herself, she asks, "Is this carrot cake?" While carrot cakes are yummy, they aren't a popular or common wedding cake choice. Her spouse responds, "Mhmm." Andrea believes he spoke in a level voice to reassure her and prevent her from realizing something wasn't quite right.

Her spouse reassures her once again when she asks if this is what they decided. However, moments later, the reality sets in and she confidently says, "We didn't choose carrot cake for our wedding cake." She further added, "We chose Amapola." In Spanish, amapola means poppy. Despite her insistence that it was not the cake they selected, the pair eventually laughed it off.

In a follow-up video, she confirmed that the mix-up was not by the bakery. She said that after her first video went viral, a lot of her wedding guests reached out to her and told her that she did, in fact, have Amapola and lemon cake for her wedding and not carrot cake. Now, the couple were not able to freeze their own wedding cake because there was a lot of traveling to do, along with the fact that the couple mostly only danced the night away. So, her mother-in-law stepped up and did it. However, she froze the wrong cake. Instead of freezing the Amapola and lemon cake from the wedding, she ended up freezing the carrot cake from the couple's rehearsal dinner. She finds this extremely funny, along with the fact that her video went viral.

The wedding cake video has garnered over 7 million views and 664K likes. @kittenqween717 joked, "Plot twist, he ate it one day with the munchies and replaced it with carrot cake." Another viewer, @ak27.777, said, "The way he's like ya, we totally did and you're like, no we did not."
