The Cookie Monster shares three hard-hitting life lessons we wish could have told our younger selves.
As we grow older and wiser, we all at some point in life think about those million things that we wish our younger selves knew. Whether it's embracing the little moments of life or prioritizing ourselves, all of us miss out on something or the other in our youth days. On a related note, a heartwarming video on Tiktok by Sesame Street (@sesamestreet) has gone viral where the Cookie Monster is seen explaining three things that we wish we knew when we were "little monsters." He begins the video by sharing the first powerful life lesson, "Things don't always go your way and that's okay," something that we often forget.
Life indeed has surprising ways of putting us through unexpected moments and despite our best foot forward, things don't work in our favor. But, that's just perfectly fine. These moments of heartbreak teach us resilience and lead us to better opportunities we couldn't have imagined. As the Cookie Monster says, "It's just how the cookie crumbles." Further, he shares the second important life lesson - "Self Care", which we neglect, thinking it's just a selfish way of living out life. While we often tend to associate self-care only with bigger things, it might just be as little as treating ourselves to a delicious meal to instantly boost our mood. "Make sure you treat yourself to, you know, like a little bubble bath, or an eye mask, or some delicious cookies," advised the little monster.
When we're young and energetic, our curiosity drives us towards new things and adventures. While some of these outrageous decisions bring unexpected joys, a few of them lead to difficult situations we weren't prepared for. The Cookie Monster explains the third life lesson we wish we had known earlier in his usually witty and funny ways. He says, "Just because something looks like a cookie, does not mean that it is a cookie."
Needless to say, the Cookie Monster's profound life lessons remind us of what we forget in the hustle and bustle of life. His inspiring and assuring words speak volumes about how it's okay to not have everything figured out, that self-care is important, and that looks can often be deceiving. So, as the Cookie Monster says, don’t worry, just enjoy the delicious cookies, because life, with all its ups and downs, is worth living.
On a related note, the Cookie Monster's dear friend Elmo who often shares some heartwarming advice once asked his followers about their well-being. What followed was fans venting about their life to their new-found therapist, Elmo. Overwhelmed with the thousands of responses, he was happy that he could be there to support his followers.

In a follow-up tweet, Elmo shared a cute picture of him and penned, "Wow! Elmo is glad he asked! Elmo learned that it is important to ask a friend how they are doing. While some of the sarcastic comments would make you roll on the floor laughing, unfortunately, they highlight the harsh reality of the world. What was perhaps intended to be a casual check-in session turned out to be a whirlwind of emotions that unfolded. It's indeed an eye-opener and emphasizes the need to check on our near and dear ones' emotional well-being.
