Company's unbelievably stingy reward for employees 'breaking records' is absolutely outrageous

Many people online cannot fathom how the employers came up with the most tightfisted way to honor the employees' hardwork in meeting targets.

As much as employers expect impeccable performance, they are also responsible for motivating their employees to achieve that performance. Employees who give their best at work naturally expect some kind of recognition but not all employers provide it whole-heartedly. Some simply offer performative rewards just for the sake of it. That was the case for an employee who goes by u/Comfortable_Part_877 on Reddit who shared the stingy reward their company offered after its employees "broke records." Despite meeting the business goals so efficiently, the employees weren't honored in a way that they truly deserved.

Sharing a picture of the "reward," the employee wrote, "This is what we got after, 'breaking records,' for the company." It wasn't a monetary reward neither was it some valuable object that the workers could make use of. It was just free food - a couple of pizza slices. The company had given the employees seven pizza choices to choose from. Each worker had to choose two slices as part of their reward.  They weren't even considerate enough to order a whole pizza for each person and went with just slices instead. On top of the pizza menu was a note of thanks for the employees who toiled hard to bring profits.

"We would like to thank everyone for achieving our monthly target and the very strong month in all areas," their gratitude note read. "I'm very proud of the group and its accomplishments. We need to celebrate our wins and achievements. So, please organize pizza for everyone. Share this achievement with all our employees, they've done a great job," the company added. This post garnered huge attention and people were astounded by this frugal reward. When u/randome9 asked if the slices were at least 1/4 or 1/6 of a whole pizza, the employee replied in the comments that they were just 1/8th.

"If you want to send a clear message to management, no one touches the pizza. It just sits there," suggested u/Beatless7. The employee responded to this comment by saying, "I did. I had nothing, but everyone else had their slices. You know it’s hard to compete with free food." u/Empty_Grocery-2267 said, "I remember getting one of these while temping many years ago and how mad it made me. They told us the day in advance we were getting a pizza party and I figured I didn’t need to bring lunch for my nine-hour day. Two slices! Only enough for a 7-year-old. One guy didn’t eat his slice so the manager grabbed up the leftovers and took it back." u/BaronMikelScicluna added, "It’s bad enough that employers reward record profits with food instead of better compensation and benefits. But to add insult to injury, it’s almost always pizza. The cheapest way to feed people."

Speaking of miserly rewards, another employee's shockingly humiliating reward made its rounds on the internet. An Amazon DSP driver who goes by u/Dreid97 on Reddit was offered a "rock" as a reward for Juneteenth Day by their employer. It was nothing but a fist-sized foam rock that was wrapped in a mesh and had a little note of a grey rock holding the sign that said, "You rock." Along with this, they were offered a kids-sized bag of Cheez-Its. All that hard work only to be humiliated by silly, pointless gifts.
