Father carried disabled son to school all his life. A decade later, the community stepped up to give back

A father’s love is boundless. It has the power to transcend and tweak the laws of space and time. Due to their social conditioning, they may not be vocal about their affection towards you, but their actions resonate loudly only if you dare to listen. From cutting you fresh fruits for lunch, to dropping you at school, they are the unsung heroes in our lives. This heart-warming video of a father, Miguel, dropping his son with special needs, Angel, to school everyday is enough to make a grown man cry. The full video posted by Aaron Murphy, who goes by the username @murphslife, on Instagram initially posted the story to collect donations. Since then, it has gone viral, with the internet claiming this man as their collective dad.

In the April of 2022, Aaron Murphy helped a man achieve more than he could dream of. Miguel, a middle-aged man living in El Salvador, is an epitome of love and compassion. He lives with his son who is disabled and hence is unable to walk. Their lives have changed in many ways, but one thing remained constant since the son’s childhood — piggybacking his son to school every day. Due to his economic conditions, he could not afford treatment or a wheelchair for his son. Hence, he took the responsibility of taking his son to school on his shoulders, literally.

The video starts with Miguel carrying his son to school on his back. Angel expresses, “I feel so happy for the father I’ve been given by God.” Next, we see the duo at home, being interviewed. “I am proud to have the parents I have… for taking care of me all these years,” Angel expressed. The text inset in the video confirms that he was gifted his first wheelchair by a neighbor, with Murphy mentioning in his reel's caption, “Thank you @reynaldo_carballo [Reynaldo Carballo] for blessing him with a chair.”

“Until the day I die… until the last of my strength,” Miguel added, “I will carry him.” When Murphy asked him how he had so much love for his child, he sighed, opened his arms wide, and looked at the sky, gesturing at complete surrender and replied, “Blessing from God. I have so, so much love for him.” He is later shown pushing his son in a wheelchair to school when Murphy asks him, “What’s your dream in life?” to which the father replies, “Well… I’m going to continue working to save up and buy my pick-up one day to carry son around every day.”

Murphy’s plea for donation went viral all over social media, which helped him and his team raise a large amount to help Miguel achieve his dream. “Miguel has always sacrificed his dream of owning a Nissan truck to cover his son’s medical bills and put him through school. So, while Angel studied at school and his father was selling his honey out of his backpack… we quickly got to work,” the reel noted.

When Miguel entered the school campus to pick up his son, he was bombarded with a surprise. A white Nissan pick-up truck stood parked right outside the school building with a blue bow on it. Everyone gathered there shouted, “Surprise!” in unison and clapped, leading to both Miguel and Angel crying happy tears. Murphy whispered, “You do not have to walk him anymore.” The team further gifted Angel a laptop and asked him to study well to become a lawyer.

Miguel responded to show gratitude towards everyone who made it possible for him, “With all my heart, I give you thanks. May God bless you too. May God bless you for the work you do. Continue to do so.” He smiled and walked towards the truck while still carrying his son on his back.

Watching the wholesome video made many shed a tear. @margysortiz wrote “I cry watching his videos he is a great human being God bless him always,” while @josue713 expressed, “Amazing work, brother. May God keep blessing you for helping others in need.” @lorenzo_i0044 commented, “With tears in my eyes I say thank you for all you do,” and @vivianajz exclaimed, “You guys are awesome! Thank you so much for what you do for all those people all around. May the lord and the universe pay you back with so many blessings!”
