European perspectives on America and its citizens often come with a mix of stereotypes and humor, and these comedians perfectly captured those assumptions with a touch of dark wit.
We are often curious about the lifestyles of people from other countries. In addition to the cultural shock foreigners experience when they arrive in a new country, they also bring along certain stereotypical beliefs about the region they are visiting. A pair of content creators presented their hilarious take on this idea and many Americans are finding it heavily relatable. @the_content_machine on Instagram is the brainchild of Michael Mazzitelli and Tyler John Perry where the comedic duo produces painfully relatable and fun videos for their audience.
The duo filmed a series of videos capturing what Europeans typically think about Americans, all with a touch of humor. The first video garnered over 16 million views and sparked a flood of comments from fellow Americans, with some even dubbing it a "documentary." In the viral video, Mazzitelli dresses up as an overweight American who wakes up each day in the same set of clothes, wearing them throughout the day. He then heads to a convenience store to buy Coca-Cola, where he encounters a stranger. The two men proceed to overshare random, pointless details about their lives, adding to the absurdity of the scenario.
Mazzitelli heads to the cereal section, grabbing several cartons and casually mentioning that they'll be his meals for the next two months, alongside processed food. he adds, noting that he sends out daily prayers for victims of gun violence. The next scene follows Mazzitelli as he enters a public restroom, sliding his head through the large gaps under the stall door, where he proceeds to strike up a quick conversation with Perry, who is using the toilet. Later in the day, Mazzitelli’s wife gives birth, and he immediately sets up a GoFundMe page to help cover their medical bills.

His wife doesn't even get maternity leave and is off to work soon after delivering the baby. Mazzitelli reads the Bible at 4 p.m. and then goes to his favorite coffee shop and orders a large jar of iced coffee which he considers "small." When he sits down to watch a movie with his family, he criticizes an inappropriate scene and immediately switches to "Saving Private Ryan" which he considers a family movie. His day wraps up with pledging his allegiance to the American flag and taking shots of Ozempic to stay skinny before going to bed.
The second video is even more riotous as Mazzitelli wakes up to the sound of gun violence and consumes a breakfast of fried chicken and Coca-Cola. Mazzitelli observes the homeless communities but does nothing about it, continuing to preach about how great the country is anyway. The content creators also poke fun at several aspects of American life, including the absurd tipping culture, toxic work environments, low wages, unchecked gun violence and unhealthy food habits. The comment section was filled with viewers pointing out how Mazzitelli and Perry used dark humor to highlight the harsh realities of America, creating a mix of laughs and thought-provoking commentary.

As a Brazilian living in Europe I can confirm that’s exactly what we think of America and by we I mean the rest of the world." @heartlessfall wondered, "Where's the gun rack in the background while he sends thoughts and prayers for gun violence?" @tylerjohnperry chimed in, "I don’t think there’s any higher fashion than Cookie Monster pajama pants. I remember the kids from which school would wear them to class and they all ended up exactly how you would expect, super successful and definitely not in jail." @yazzivine commented, "In Iran, America is portrayed as paradise. Driving down Pacific Coast Highway, that is America to Iranians." @marques.jlp added, "Hoping for satire but got a documentary."
