The stand-up comedian was talking about the woman's relationship when she learned about how many friends she had.
Many people struggle with having adult friendships. Besides, with our online lives, changing family and friendship dynamics, it becomes difficult to maintain them in the long run. Nonetheless, many people want to have that connection or the feeling of community, but it is absent from their lives or very few and far between. So when a comedian found out that a woman in her audience had a group of seven friends as an adult, she was quite shocked. The comedian, Taylor Tomlinson—who goes by @taylortomlinsoncomedy on TikTok—shared the incident.
Tomlinson was talking to a woman in the audience about the relationship she had been in for nine months. "You said I love you already?" the comedian asked. The woman answered she said it once. "You did once? Girl. You did once and he what?" The woman responded that her boyfriend said, "It was a little sudden." Tomlinson went on, "Okay, so he didn't say it back? When did you say I love you?" The woman said it a month and a half in the relationship and Tomlinson gasped and then joked that it was okay and something that many people did. She wondered if the man ever said it back or if the woman said it again. "You are still dating this person?" Tomlinson asked and the woman said that yes, she was. "Are all your friends here?" Tomlinson enquired.
"Yes," the woman answered. "How many of your friends are here?" The woman revealed that her seven friends were present at that time. "Seven friends? Wait, wait, wait. You are telling me that you have seven friends as an adult," the comedian enquired with the woman. "You are 28. You somehow have seven friends. That's unheard of. You are 28; you have seven friends who all came out with you at the same time. Is it your birthday?" It wasn't her birthday. Tomlinson was quite surprised the woman had seven friends who came out with her without any occasion and she still told a man that she loved him. "And he was like,__. Guys, what are you doing? This is an insane situation."
"You all are bad friends. Do you know how I know? I am working right now and I am being a better friend to her than you," Tomlinson expressed. The video had received over 13.6 million views and more than 1.4 million likes. People expressed their thoughts in the comments. @somewittyhandle wrote, "Flipping the attention back on herself to keep the girl from being too embarrassed about saying it too early is how you know she's a true pro." @gingerb33f commented, "Literally my exact thought! Like you have seven friends and they haven’t lovingly bullied you out of this relationship yet? LADIES GET IT TOGETHER!"
@bbodity remarked, "I know someone who’s been with her boyfriend for two years and they live together and have pets together and she tells him she loves him often and not once has he said it back." @kiki__jo shared, "I am not saying crowd work isn't an art, but sometimes the source material is gold in and of itself." @balyhycurr95 expressed, "That girl has seven friends she can get all of them to agree to go somewhere. She needs to make a D&D group."
