She highlighted the hilarious paradox that men rarely have what’s needed but always keep a stash of random cables.
Computers and technology have no gender, yet many men are passionate gadget enthusiasts who love hoarding tech accessories. While not every man does this, many have a stash of old cables, wires, chargers and adapters—often for no clear reason. Whether it’s nostalgia or the perceived usefulness of these tangled cords, this fascination remains a mystery to many women. Stand-up comedian and actress Nina Tarr—who goes by @pizzaparty69 on Instagram—recently turned this quirky habit into comedy gold. In a video titled "Men Love Wires," Tarr hilariously breaks down how men seem obsessed with keeping a box of random cables at all times.
The video, which has racked up over 2 million views, had the audience in stitches with its spot-on observation. “Every man here has a box of wires and cables that travels with him from place to place, from apartment to apartment,” Tarr said, looking at the audience. She pointed to a man in the crowd and asked if he kept a box of wires. Mimicking his thoughts, the comedian spoke, “And you’re like, ‘You gotta get rid of these!’ And he’s like ‘Babe what if someone comes over and needs a Nokia charger from 1998? I’m not gonna look like a f*****g idiot!’”
Tarr also humorously pointed out the irony of men hoarding old wires and cables while forgetting to keep the things they actually need. After a pause, she continued, “And I don’t understand ‘cause you guys don’t have things you actually need. Good luck getting a Band-Aid at a man’s house. Oh my God! Doesn’t have a band-aid, doesn’t have a headboard, doesn’t have end tables. And he’s like ‘I have a FireWire Cable.’ I am like why?” At this point, the crowd erupted into a burst of wild laughter.
In the post caption, she demanded a serious answer from men who belong to this “cable head” category. “Please explain your wire, cable and adapter culture with me. I need answers,” she wrote. The comment section witnessed a flurry of men, who not only confessed their obsession for cables but also justified it with some hilarious explanations. “Not only do I have boxes of cables and wires but I have the tools and supplies to make [more] cables and wires you can't stop me,” said @b.drives. @jlw1988 added, “You don't know you needed that cable until you throw the cable box away.” @andybelltm stepped up to the defense of these “cable headed” men, proclaiming, “Leave our wires alone. One day, you’ll need a weird one and you’ll be glad we have it.”
Sharing a hilarious experience, @itsyaboidante described an anecdote about his “Box.” “I've had someone request a cable for a phone I've never heard of before. Consulted the ‘Box of Wires.’ Praise be to the ‘Cable Gods,’ forever may they reign, I had it. Never doubt ‘The Box,’” he wrote. @tennyvee shared another instance, “I used to be given heck for my drawer until she needed a specific cable and I literally rolled over and pulled it out and handed it to her. Nothing but silence and a slow head nod of respect after that.”
