An individual expressed their frustrations at being a working college student in America, highlighting the difficulties they face.
The hustle culture has been pushing people beyond their limits and many are jeopardizing their mental health by doing so. It has become socially accepted to do multiple jobs while studying at college, but the undeniable reality is that these can cause people to burn out. A student, who goes by @ripostegoddess, posted a video where she broke down, expressing her frustrations at having to work multiple jobs while attending college. The video has amassed 1.8 million views and 4771 comments on the social media platform.
She starts by openly expressing deep frustration at having to live in a country where she is forced to work four jobs. Even while doing so much work, she is barely able to pay her rent and handle her academic workload. She says, "And I still can't graduate on time and I still can't graduate early even though I'm taking 21 credit hours next semester." The individual takes a brief pause and goes on to point out how it was deeply unfair for her to go through all this.
The college student shares how it has never been easy in her life and questions if it will ever be fair, considering that she is a woman living in America. She holds up her hands in frustration, saying, "My god, I just want to live in peace in America, and I will one day." The individual hints how she will probably shift somewhere else before ending the video. Her meltdown prompted a lot of people to share their thoughts about the bleak situation in America in the comments section.
@maedaysos commented, "And then you work just to have more money taken from you after taxes because you have to work so much. Make it make sense." @kristenbrady77 shared, "Sad truth. For the first time in nine years, I had to get a second job cause my first one isn't cutting it." Another individual, @aubrie.schmidt.min, expressed, "This! My husband works two jobs and I work part-time. It's rough out there."
But sadly enough, people seem to be struggling even after they manage to land a decent job. Brielle Asero posted a video on TikTok and shared her concerns about her full-time job. She used the video as a way to vent how the job had been absolutely exhausting for her. Asero says, "I don't get time to do anything. I want to shower, eat my dinner and go to sleep. I don't have time or energy to cook my dinner either."
The woman also pointed out how many of her routines had been completely derailed because of her job and the hectic schedule that came with it. And despite her job being a traditional 9-to-5 one, she rarely got off at 5 in the evening. She explains, "You don't get off at 5. I get off when it's pitch black. How do you have energy? How do you have time to make friends?" Many people are silently suffering the woe of the 40-hour work week, indicating a problem that may not go away anytime soon unless something is done.
