Kim and Celebuski revealed that their music video was approved by their lawyer
What's the most unhinged way to get back at an unfair landlord? This duo may have just found it. Julia Kim and Cameron Celebuski from Cleveland, Ohio, took to social media (@neverrentfromcindy) to retaliate against Cindy, their landlord, using music as their weapon. Cindy promised Kim and Celebuski they could renew their leases, then rented Celebuski's room to someone else and told one of them to move out. Realizing how unfair Cindy was being, the pair decided to record "Never Rent From Cindy" to slam her. The official music video was shared on YouTube on June 29, 2026, under "Cindy's Ex-Tenants (aka kimbuski)." It received 14,930 views, 2,000 likes, and 204 comments.
Backstabbed
The 5:48-minute-long music video featured text message exchanges and recorded phone calls between Cindy and the duo. It began a year ago, when they rented from "Sunwukong: Journey To The West LLC." Cindy had a four-bedroom house and rented the third floor to Kim and Celebuski. Kim was planning to move out, but asked for some time, to which Cindy agreed. Later on, she texted Celebuski that his room had been rented to a new tenant without informing him beforehand.
In the same message, she told him that one of them (Kim or Celebuski) had to leave. They felt betrayed because she already assured them they would have a place to stay. They emphasized in the chorus, "You didn’t keep your promises, you said that we’d be fine / But now we know that all the things you said were just a lie."
Unregistered and reported
In addition to asking one of them to leave, Cindy also threatened them with fines for staying longer. They got on a phone call to discuss the issue. She gave them till the end of July, but said that she would not be renewing their leases. When they brought up the third tenant, she immediately shut down the conversation. The pair sang, "Now we know when you see this, you’ll want to sue / But we talked to a lawyer, and you’re screwed."
Apparently, Cindy had been renting illegally since all her properties were unregistered. Towards the end of the song, the duo sang, "And you rent your houses out to college kids illegally / I bet you wish you never rented out your house to me... we reported you to the government / That’s why / You can never rent / From Cindy." The duo's lawyer approved the music video before they posted it.
Unfair landlords
Landlords have the right to do whatever they want with their property, but that does not mean tenants should be left scrambling at the last minute. A LendingTree survey of more than 2,000 tenants found that 18% had been evicted. Out of these, 68% of tenants reported that they were unfairly kicked out. Some of the reasons include not paying rent on time (30%), the landlord wanted to use the property for personal reasons (24%), and some said it was discrimination (18%). Cindy never mentioned the reason why she rented Celebuski's room to a stranger, but the duo felt she was being unfair after being promised housing.
Internet classic and a masterpiece
Netizens in the comment section are fully supporting Kim and Celebuski. Some have even called 'Never Rent From Cindy' an "internet classic." @akshayrajan8793 commented, "First time I've been so early to an internet classic in the making. F*cking legends the both of you." @ajb3281 wrote, "Master class in trolling, legal work and music composition. Sorry you guys are going through this, but I hope that things get better soon.
