The woman kept on blaming herself all the time until the truth revealed that something was wrong with her husband

People with Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) are often misunderstood as someone who is “too sensitive” or “always wrong.” As they walk through life, this recurring conditioning becomes the ammunition for manipulators and leaves them vulnerable to criticism and psychological aggression. A 35-year-old woman (u/ThrowRA_Feddit64) experienced this behaviour with her husband, who criticized her for little mistakes, which she thought was pure misunderstanding. The breaking point came when her husband complained about a sign that had gone missing. When she checked the surveillance footage, she saw who was at fault, according to her July 21, 2026 Reddit post.
Security cam footage showed my (35F) husband (47M) fabricating a problem he blamed me for

The woman has been married to her husband for almost a decade, and they run a business together. While each of them worked in different areas, oftentimes, he would send her pictures of things he believed she had messed up. Slight misunderstandings were perceived as disrespect, and he unloaded all his frustrations on his wife. The other day, he remained angry at her for bungling up everything. After a tussle over text messages, he sent her a picture of the front door, blaming her for not noticing that a business sign had disappeared.

Her husband kept on insisting that she must have noticed that the sign wasn’t there, but shrugged it off. On the flip side, the woman’s hunch told her that the sign must have blown away by the wind since the weather was stormy at the time. After getting pushed over the edge, she headed to check the surveillance footage. What appeared left her knocked for a loop. Minutes before her husband had complained to her about the missing sign, he himself had removed it from the door. The incident made the woman question whether he had used the same tactic before, especially given that she has ADHD. “The strangeness of it is really eating at me,” the woman described.

According to a study published in PLOS One, people suffering from ADHD are extremely vulnerable to criticism, and being called forgetful, having a lack of focus and organization, and being messy. In terms of psychology, this could come under the behavior of “gaslighting,” as some Reddit users also pointed out. Gaslighting is a dysfunctional family dynamic that involves actions that make a survivor doubt themselves and their reality.
The victim is left second-guessing, questioning their reality and whether they are too sensitive. According to the statistics of the National Domestic Violence Hotline, cited by Newport Institute, 74% of women have reported experiencing gaslighting by their partners.

The post felt alarming to most readers, and most of them urged the woman to run away. u/cluster_of_wombats said, “People always use the word 'gaslighting' incorrectly, but wow, you are literally being gaslit. This is abuse, pure and simple, and you need to run. Run fast, run far.” u/lizzyote remarked, “Been a while since I've seen an actual example of gaslighting.” u/TheDreadMuse commented, “He is manufacturing your misery so that you will always feel indebted to him, and never ask for the life you really deserve. I would leave.”
