Sometimes, knowingly or unknowingly, many of us say rude things to our moms, taking them for granted. On the contrary, our loving mothers leave no stone unturned when it comes to preparing for the holiday season. Without hesitation, they bear the brunt of the festivities, infusing a sparkling "magic" into the occasion. To remind those who’ve conveniently forgotten their importance, Canadian singer and lyricist Farideh—who goes by @ilovefarideh on YouTube—came up with a wittily inventive composition.

In a widely shared video, the songwriter captures the challenges many mothers face during the holiday season—from shopping for gifts and cleaning up after countless gatherings to cooking up mounds of delectable dishes. The background score, titled “The Magic of the Season is Your Mum,” aims to reflect the efforts mothers put in to create joy for their families during the holiday season.

“She is Santa and the elves, wrapping your presents, overwhelmed. She’s the chef and cleaner too, making a miracle just for you,” the powerful lyrics of the thought-provoking composition can be heard in the minute-long footage. Meanwhile, the cheerful Farideh depicts all the holiday duties expected of moms, including decorating the house, buying presents, wrapping gifts, and sending cards to loved ones. At one point, Farideh acknowledged the responsibility placed on women to keep festive traditions alive. “The mystery of the holidays is actually all these moms, like every mom in the world, just pouring out her heart into the people that she loves,” the Canadian songwriter later told TODAY.com. Farideh realized the crucial role moms play during the holidays only after she herself became a parent.

“It comes at a price for the women who feel like there’s all this pressure for them to make memories and to make magic,” Farideh added. According to experts, while it's natural for mothers to work their magic during the holidays, spreading love shouldn't come at the expense of stress. After ten years of research, bestselling author Eve Rodsky concluded that the holiday season often becomes an "increasing point of tension" among couples.

The author of "Fair Play" found that partners often struggle to define who is responsible for various tasks on their holiday to-do lists. “Women married to men assume that they’re going to be doing the work that we call kin keeping,” Rodsky shared with TODAY. The persistence of a centuries-old patriarchal mindset, coupled with a lack of recognition, can be a double whammy for young mothers. Echoing this sentiment, a woman known as “Syd Eclectic Mom” spoke about the challenges of being a stay-at-home caregiver, and her message resonated with many online. The modern parenting commentator highlighted how the roles of moms often go unrecognized and are not considered legitimate jobs. “Whether you are a homeschool mom or your kids are young,” she said, “there’s no measurement or metric of success.”
