Careless driver gets a dose of karma after lecturing mother in front of her little daughter's school

When the woman called the cops on the site of the accident, the driver who had committed the mistake thought he could get away with it.

It is pretty foolish to think that one can get away with drunk driving and it is even more foolish if one is wrong but they try to get out of the situation by giving lectures to the person who is not driving under the influence of alcohol. Well, that’s exactly what went down with u/brutalbeast, who shared her recent experience with a drunk driver trying to lecture her for being a ‘woman driver.’ She began her thread hilariously by declaring that she’s unsure whether this experience would be considered “petty or even revenge” because she’s just “never met anyone so determined to dig themselves into a hole.”

She described the incident that took place at her daughter’s school when she parked her car with “the driver’s side of the car on the street side and the passenger side near the sidewalk,” a rule generally followed when picking someone up. Her daughter’s car seat was fixed in the place behind the driver’s seat, which prompted the mother to “stand in the street to buckle her in.” After securing her daughter in place, the woman got into the driver’s seat and as she was about to close the door, a “Honda Civic plowed into it so hard that the door sliced into the Civic’s bumper.”

After the incident, the Civic driver reversed until the woman could open her door again. She shared, “I saw the Civic was maybe 8 inches from my car. Who drives so close to parked cars?” She then explained that she would usually “just exchange info,” but the Civic driver got out of his car and had “a huge attitude.” “He starts lecturing me and saying that I need to look around before opening my door and that he had no time to react. If I had taken more time to get in, he would have hit me,” she further wrote. The woman believed that he could have easily avoided the incident because there was “plenty of room” since the street was wide enough and there wasn’t “a sidewalk on the other side.” When the two began exchanging information, that’s when the woman realized that she might have smelt alcohol on him.

The woman later called her husband and informed him about what happened. After her husband and her other daughter reached the scene of the accident, the Civic driver tried to win her husband over by ranting about the “women drivers, am I right” stereotype. The husband gave the driver a piece of his mind and what transpired next was the husband being reassured that he smelt alcohol on the driver’s breath as well. The couple called the cops, to which the Civic driver was over-confidently affirmative. The woman described, “He wants the cops called and wants to talk to them.” The woman further revealed that while her daughters were passing time, “running around the schoolyard,” she and her husband were busy giving their statements.

About her statement, she said, “Mine is pretty cut and dry, so soon husband and I are just standing around while the cops talk to the driver of the Civic.” She concluded with the final nail in the coffin of how karma gets back and “what goes around comes back around,” which was soon after the cops used a breathalyzer on the driver and he failed it. She finally wrote, “So he gets arrested and I’m driving a rental until we see if my car can be fixed.”

The comment section blew up with positivity towards the woman’s life and shared their insight on the silver lining in this situation. u/DisneyBuckeye said, “You’re incredibly lucky to have not been injured! If he had come along 3 minutes earlier, he would have hit you while you were buckling in your child. Glad you’re okay!” u/kelrunner said, “That was my thought. She and her child might have been run into along with the door and all she talks about is the drunk, very matter-of-factly. WOW.” While there is surely a silver lining in the incident, this is also an example of driving responsibly and being aware when you are in the wrong because it takes less than a minute for things to turn around.
