When Breanna Ricker, known on TikTok as @breanna.ricker, walked down the aisle on her big day, she was not only celebrating her marriage but was also setting up the perfect surprise for her bridesmaid. In a video posted by Ricker, she shared that the bridesmaid had planned a 'funny' entrance with her boyfriend, staging a fake proposal for laughs since she had been waiting for the real thing. But what started as a joke quickly turned into the moment she’d always hoped for. The video, posted to TikTok on July 28, captured every beat of the surprise and has racked up 7.2 million views and more than 1 million likes.

@breanna.ricker Nobody else we’d want to share our day with! 💍💐We love you both so much! #bouquettoss #fiances #proposal #fyp #weddingtiktok ♬ Marry You - Bruno Mars

Ricker explained in the text overlay that her bridesmaid thought she was in on the gag. But the bride had secretly teamed up with the groomsmen, her bridesmaid's actual boyfriend, to make sure the "fake" moment wouldn’t stay a joke for long. During the bouquet toss, instead of simply flinging the flowers, Breanna walked directly over to her bridesmaid and handed her the bouquet herself. The room lit up with cheers as she turned around and found her boyfriend dropped to one knee and pulled out the ring for real.

@breanna.ricker INSTANT TEARS! This was our ceremony exit song and it will always be one our our favorites so THANK YOU TIK TOK🥺 #fyp #husband #wedding #tiktokpicksthesong ♬ CARRY YOU HOME - alexwarrentour

What made the video even more special was the bride’s reaction. On her own wedding day, Breanna was screaming, cheering, and jumping with joy as if it were her best friend’s celebration too. In her caption, she said, "Nobody else we’d want to share our day with! We love you both so much." That warmth is exactly what makes a proposal unforgettable. Not every proposal ends with a "yes," and studies show timing and context often play a huge role in rejection. A study published in the Journal of Family Psychology examined more than 300 accepted and rejected proposals and found that the ones most likely to succeed were those that aligned with cultural expectations and involved the approval or presence of loved ones. Breanna’s joy on her wedding day showed just how powerful that kind of support can be.

People couldn’t stop praising the heartwarming twist. @ellenwood710 commented, "So unexpected proposals at a wedding? Absolutely no. But expected and planned proposals??? Absolutely yes. If I were this bride, I would be screaming, cheering on my best friend." @kaylawilliams276 wrote, "The way you cheered for her at your wedding... she is definitely winning in the friendship department!!!" @honeeeyyyyy127 added, "The bride giving her the bouquet and jumping for joy on her wedding day. Oh you love them so much. Congratulations to both couples! I hope you had a great wedding and honeymoon!" @haylaytay said, "I could watch you jumping for joy for your friend all day long. Everyone needs friends that cheer them on vs filling the relationship with envy and hardship. I love love love this."

Some commented that the proposal overshadowed the bride’s big day, accusing her of "stealing the spotlight." Ricker responded with her own words in the comments to clear the air, "We don’t even need to explain ourselves. The groom and I actually suggested it to the groomsmen a while back. We thought it would be so much fun, and it was. He asked if we were 100% OK with it like four months before the wedding even happened and gave us plenty of opportunities to change our mind."
