Bride's bestie delivers heartwarming maid of honor speech via FaceTime from maternity ward

A bridal entourage is a crucial part of a couple’s big day. From handling preparations, cold feet and last-minute jitters to maintaining the vibe of the ceremony, the entourage manages all. The maid of honor is even more important for a bride at her wedding. Beyond her myriad responsibilities, she embodies the heartwarming bond and sentimental value shared with the bride. Woodell Productions shared the video of a bride who was moved to tears after her maid of honor truly saved the day with her speech on Facetime. Ally was unable to attend the wedding as she was giving birth to her baby on the same day. 

Though the duo never imagined having a toast like this, Ally ensured she fulfilled her role down to the T and delivered her speech. “You are currently listening to the voice of Ally. You didn’t think that a little childbirth would keep me from giving my maid of honor speech,” Ally remarked on FaceTime. She mentioned that she had umpteen memories with the bride, who is her best friend, and it would take all night to speak of them all. “A podcast would be nice,” she joked. “I’ll never forget my first evening in Portone, Italy, in true Michelle fashion. She had incredibly whisked me up and down the steep winding roads,” she said. 

“She had planned my first day down to the T. She showed me a mummy and that was the day I got hit by a car and was promptly asked out on a date by an Italian,” Ally said. The maid of honor continued to share the memory emotionally and it got the bride sobbing as she reminisced how far they had come. "The culmination of a lifetime of friendship had brought us to this one special place in time, 5,000 miles from where we grew up. Everything we've been through together — all those dead salamanders, the house fire, the boyfriends, the breakups, just growing up,” the friend explained. 

Ally was on a roll, revealing the joy and bliss it was to have been part of the bride’s journey and she managed to make the bride shed tears of joy and laughter together. "I remember being so truly grateful for your friendship. It was a rare moment of clarity for me at the time — how lucky I was to know a girl so appreciative of art and beauty that you thought to share that magic with me. Sister. The word hit me like a ton of bricks. This was our sisterhood. I believe it was at this moment that we decided we needed to become sister wives," Ally said.

"I'm pretty sure this means we all have to live together now. I'll be bringing a baby, so I hope that's okay," Ally added jokingly. She concluded her speech and raised a toast to the couple virtually, making the day extra special for the couple.
