A bride's wedding took an emotional turn when her late mom's voice played during the ceremony. The surprise left no dry eyes in the room.
Losing a parent at a young age can be incredibly challenging, especially knowing one must spend their entire life without their presence in life. That is why some people find creative ways to keep their memories alive. This was witnessed during a wedding when a woman decided to honor her late mother by revisiting some timeless moments they shared. Brooklyn-based registered nurse and entrepreneur Aniyah Gordon—who goes by @niyamonroee on TikTok—was all emotional on her special day when she heard her late mom’s last voicemail played in the background, wishing her beloved daughter the best. The video captured the 29-year-old bride ensuring her mom, Aichia Divine Stanislaus, was present in spirit during her marriage celebration, leaving her guests teary-eyed.
It began with Gordon walking down the aisle alongside her father. As the father-daughter duo stood near the altar, holding each other's hands and waiting to join the groom, the music suddenly stopped. This unexpected pause surprised the bride, and before her father could walk her down the aisle, a voicemail began playing in the background. Gordon immediately recognized her late mom’s voice, who had passed away from a heart attack three years before her wedding, at the age of 41. The heartfelt message from her late mother touched everyone in attendance, as shown in the nearly one-minute video. “Hearing my mom's voice on my wedding day was the reassurance I needed,” Gordon wrote in the description of the heartwarming video. Furthermore, it showed the nurse’s dad trying to comfort her as she missed her mother on her special day.
She was seen looking up toward the ceiling as the voicemail played, saying, “I love you so much... You're such an awesome kid. You make me proud every day.” Others at the wedding were seen in the background holding back tears. Additionally, the caring father was wiping away the tears falling from his daughter’s eyes, offering her emotional support during the deeply moving moment. “SB: It’s my dad whispering, 'I love you, you got this, I’m always going to be here,' for me,” Gordon added to her heartfelt caption for the wedding video, which was first shared in October 2024.
While speaking to Good Morning America, she described Stanislaus as her best friend and as someone who “loved hard.” “I'm glad that even through the video, people were able to feel her energy, leaving comments saying how soft her voice was and how angelic it was and how comforting it was for them, even in their [own] loss and their grief,” Gordon said, per the outlet. Meanwhile, the heartfelt wedding clip gained widespread attention on social media, garnering nearly 7 million views.
Among the countless reactions, @likeno0ther shared their dilemma, “The reason why I haven’t had my wedding yet... How am I supposed to do this without my mom?” “You and your dad held it together because they would have had to pick me up off the floor! Such a beautiful moment to witness,” @ifynwokolo remarked. @kelz1013 praised, "That’s unspeakable bravery. I could not have done that and kept my composure. I lost my mom three years ago and I’m still struggling. I’m proud of you and I wish you peace on your grief journey."
