Bride recreates her parents' iconic wedding outfit switch with new husband: 'They were so proud'

Recreating wedding traditions is always fun, especially when re-enacted with a twist. Rosie Joyce, a newlywed, won the internet's heart when she shared an adorable throwback picture of her parents swapping outfits on their wedding day and totally slaying it. When it came time for their own nuptials, Rosie and her new husband decided to follow suit.

She documented the heartwarming historical recreation in a TikTok video that received more than 10 million views since being shared online. It was captioned by Rosie: "I grew up obsessed with these photos! How did we do? My poor dress."

The text overlay on the video read: "I grew up obsessed with these photos! How did we do? We wanted to recreate the photos and surprise everyone on our recovery day. They (parents) were so proud." The video featured photos of her parents swapping outfits and then pictures of Rosie and her husband doing the same. 

Her husband walked out in a lovely and pristine white gown, his toned arms on display, holding a beer snugly wrapped in a koozie, while the bride dashingly pulled off the tuxedo which she topped off with a pair of bright white Gucci clogs. She also accessorized with a fruity White Claw and drop earrings. The couple then posed for a series of adorable photos, including one in black and white and one with Rosie's mother.

The post refers to a recent wedding trend in which couples incorporate trends and traditions from their parents' weddings. A wedding recovery day—as mentioned in Rosie's caption—is exactly what it sounds like: the day after a wedding to recover from the sometimes stressful and exhausting walk down the aisle. Some couples may choose to spend the day alone, such as lounging on the beach or going out to brunch, whereas others, such as Rosie and her husband, may host or attend a casual gathering with friends and family over a few drinks. 

Some TikTok users compared the bride's father to Dennis Quaid. Meanwhile, many were in complete awe of how well Rosie pulled off the tuxedo and others simply appreciated their gesture. "Your dad kinda looks like Dennis Quaid here. Anyone else see it?" wrote @user8331668883802. "Your mum looked GOOD in that suit it was made for her, not your dad it’s decided," @sophieolleary. "The fact that your new hubby loved the idea shows you found the one," added @lovelylyssss. 

Speaking of weddings and recreations, a father an incredible gesture for his daughter's wedding day. She had always wanted to get married in her childhood backyard. So her father fulfilled her dream by recreating it, and it couldn't have been more heartwarming. He spent 8 months, watering, building, trimming and planting to make the yard look exactly how she envisioned it for her big day. This heartfelt effort to make his daughter feel special and loved garnered 4.1 million likes on TikTok.
