The bride’s brother recalled that they were just two and three years old when they got lost at Disneyland.
Sibling bonds are some of the strongest connections in life, built through years of shared memories, challenges, and unwavering support. And some moments bring that bond into focus in the most unexpected way. One man's speech at his sister's wedding did exactly that, leaving his sister, Jess, and countless others in tears. The speech was shared by The Uncommon Weddings (@theuncommonweddings) on Instagram and struck an emotional chord with many older siblings. During the heartfelt speech, the bride’s brother recalled a childhood memory of the time they got lost at Disneyland.
He began, "When Jess was only three years old and I was two, we got lost in Disney World and were separated from our parents." He continued, "As you can probably imagine, I was terrified and was crying." He then described what his sister did even though she was scared too, saying, "She put me on her back, comforted me, and started looking for our parents." He went on to say that although his sister "had tears in her eyes, she didn't cry." He said, "She knew even at the age of three that she had to be strong for me, protect me, and put my needs before her own." He recalled how it was only after their parents found them that she started crying.
He continued admiring his sister, reflecting that their personalities might differ because of how her support shaped him and her presence made him feel he could "take so many risks," "explore the unknown," and never "actually fall." He concluded his speech with a line that broke everyone in the room, "28 years ago, you picked me up and put me on your back. I don't know if you realize this but to this day, you still haven’t put me down." The moment resonated far beyond the wedding venue, as many people online shared their reactions.
@pavithramuch wrote, "All the elder sisters are bawling like a baby watching this video." Some were crying their eyes out on the last line. @rubyzcorner commented, "'Till this day, you still haven't put me down.' I'm sorry, the onions are too strong. I'm not crying." @wild.n.whimsical noted, "The husband getting emotional too was what did me in. And then that last line. 'You still haven't put me down.' Okay, well now I'm NEVER going to stop crying. This is beautiful; I hope for many happy years for you two and all your family." @jocelynpugs wrote, "WOOOOOW, literally crying in my kitchen, tears rolling down my face at 1:35 p.m. Oh my GOD, what a finishing line!!!! On my way to call my brothers and tell them I love them."
@tcrane68 wrote, "Dude, it's too early in the a.m. for me to be crying. Tears in my cup." @deee_rodriguez commented, "NOT THE BROTHER MAKING everyone cry. Wow, that was from the heart and so beautiful." @mrun.__ commented, "This was so sweet. As an elder sister, this is my dream to hear something like this from my younger brother." @mary.ogbe commended the sister, "I'm amazed at how a three-year-old could step up in that moment. An average child of that age should be crying alongside her brother until an adult offers to help them. Your sister is a real one."
