Boy’s eight-month plan leads to emotional Christmas gift for mom: 'Healed my inner child'

The most important part of a gift is the thoughtfulness behind it. What the item is matters less than the love and effort put into giving it. A mom named Ruthie Hagmann (@ruthhagmann) was moved to tears when her 8-year-old son delightfully delivered one of the most precious Christmas gifts ever. The mom shared a video of herself opening a wrapped box that contained a cherished part of her childhood. As she sat opening gifts, one particular present from her son deeply touched her. Already emotional, she couldn't hold back the tears upon seeing what he had gotten her.

“My 8-year-old gifted me the most thoughtful gift this Christmas,” she wrote. Hagmann was first handed a smaller box with a hint of what her main gift would be, reports Bored Panda. As she opened the gift, the mom found a tiny pair of rounded glasses. While it might have seemed unusual to others, she immediately knew where this was headed and hoped she was right. Before opening her main present, she shared the backstory. “For the past year, he has asked me so many times what my favorite toy was when I was younger. My answer never changed: my American Girl doll — Molly,” the mom explained. She went on to share that, due to frequent moves, she had ended up losing her cherished doll.

When her son heard the story, he was upset to learn that his mom had lost a beloved piece of her childhood. "He said he has the perfect idea and secretly planned (since April!) to get me my very own Molly for Christmas," Hagmann exclaimed. The little boy eagerly stood in front of his mother, waiting for her reaction. As she opened the box, she was overwhelmed with emotion, tearing up as she saw the American Girl doll bag. With a sense of excitement and hope, she eagerly unwrapped her present. Breaking into tears, she couldn’t believe her eyes. She looked around the room, showing off the box to her family members, who knew just how much she had longed for Molly.

“It’s Molly! It’s my Molly!” she exclaimed as soon as she saw the toy doll in the box. “He truly healed my inner child with this gift. I can’t believe how sweet he is, I’ll never forget this Christmas,” Hagmann remarked.
