Alternative fashion choices are often looked down upon by some people, who'd go to any extent to rob others of their choice. However, when this woman (u/theimperishableroach) was asked by her boyfriend's sister to dye her hair black for her wedding, she stood her ground, and her response has won the hearts of online users. The post, shared on November 23, on Reddit, has been upvoted more than 4,000 times.

u/theimperishableroach and her boyfriend had been together for over a year, the author described her fashion and lifestyle choices as alternative compared to her boyfriend's family, who come from a traditional background. Things seemed to go well between the two until the boyfriend's sister began her wedding plans. At first, the bride compelled her boyfriend to be one of the groomsmen, which her boyfriend had denied due to anxiety issues. However, the bride could not take no for an answer and instead sent across an expensive suit and demanded he pay for it. "He once again stood his ground, and she went to their parents and had them attempt to confront him. They immediately brought me up and began blaming me for his decision, despite me obviously having no say, and he defended me while once again giving a firm no," the author wrote.

Later, the bride made an unusual request that left the author stunned. To accommodate her and provide a dinner plate at her wedding, the bride wanted the author to wear a burnt orange or green dress and dye her hair black. "My hair is usually a dark red and is rarely vibrant, but that’s beyond the point. I am not ruining my hair to accommodate her guest rules, and the best that I could do is a wig, but I am honestly done at this point," she wrote. Angered by the situation, her boyfriend stood by the author's side, and she decided to message his sister, informing her that she wouldn't be comfortable enough to dye her hair, although she was ready to wear the colours of her choice. Her message read, "If I don't fit the intended aesthetic for your special day, then feel free to uninvite me."

However, the sister decided to drag her entire family into the mess. The author and her boyfriend stood their ground and decided to set boundaries with the bride. When the situation was settled, and the couple attended the wedding, the woman realized that asking her to wear a green dress and dye her hair was the bride's way of targeting her and making her look bad in front of others, when the actual theme of the wedding was pastels. Nonetheless, the author showed up in a "tight emerald green dress" and did not bother dying her hair as per the bride's demand. The couple were happy about setting boundaries and not adhering to the unusual requests made by the boyfriend's sister.

Soon after the post went viral, many users praised the author for standing their ground. u/Turbulent-Parsley619 wrote, "Probably backfired when she showed up in a tight emerald dress with her red hair and everybody else was in drab colors. I bet she STUNNED!" u/CodeNameFrumious commented, "Personally, I think the 'uninvite me if you want' note was a mistake. I think OOP should have gone with 'Thank you for notifying me of the rules you have set out for attendees. Due to these rules, I will not attend the nuptials. I hope you have a pleasant day.' Don't leave the decision with Psycho Psister. Just make a decision and move on." u/pepcorn wrote, "Why would you attend the wedding of someone who can't stand you. Have some self-respect."
