'We both said yes...'

Aaron always knew how much Amy, his girlfriend, loved her dog. So, when the boyfriend decided to propose, he went down on one knee to ask the dog first. Amy, quite overwhelmed by his gesture, posted the beautiful moment (@datelistlou) on Instagram in March 2025.

Aaron, all dressed up in a suit, stood up in front of the dog, who was unable to control her excitement. Seconds later, he opened the box, which was basically a toy case with a giant ring inside. Like a gentleman, Aaron went on his knees, and the dog grabbed the ring and ran to the other room. He followed the dog and found her playing with the ring he had proposed to her with, and in that moment, you could literally feel her saying 'yes' to the proposal. "When he knows how important your dog is to you and proposes to her too," the overlay text read. Moreover, Amy wrote, "We both said yes," reflecting on the wholesome moment. Pets aren't just animals; in fact, for most owners, they are a part of their family. Now, this isn't a random notion, but something a survey by the Pew Research Center found. More than half (62%) of people in the United States own a pet, including nearly 35% who have more than one. To understand the actual relationship between owners and their pets, researchers asked people if they consider their pets as part of the family, and 97% of them said yes. For Amy, too, her dog was as important to her as any other human companion, and luckily, Aaron acknowledged it.
@the_goldendonut Replying to @Chapline House I thought everyone was staring because they thought Donut was cute, I truly had no idea he was going to propose😭😭😭 and Donut thought all of the clapping was for him 🤣🤍 #surpriseproposal #proposal #staugustine ♬ original sound - Donut the Golden Retriever
For couples who love their pets as family, they try to include them in every milestone they achieve together, be it a proposal or a wedding. For example, a woman enjoying a night out with her boyfriend and their golden retriever (TikTok account @the_goldendonut) was shocked when the man suddenly proposed to her. As she knelt to adjust the dog's leash, her boyfriend took his position, and, oblivious to the setup, when the woman turned, her expression changed. Throughout the proposal, the dog sat patiently beside them, as if he understood everything that was happening. The woman finally said yes, and the couple hugged each other to celebrate their new life.
Reacting to Amy and Aaron's video, @b.beresh commented, "That’s the greenest flag I have ever seen. He even made sure that the box looked like Cartier." @danylle.online said, "I dumped the guy I was dating because he didn't help me look for my dog when she went missing in our new city. I started dating the guy who helped me find her." @shae__belle joked, "Baby... she ran off with that ring the same way I run from my man when he gives me money. Question me later."

Echoing the sentiments, @harmonic.paradox commented, "That's so damn cute. If my boyfriend did this, I'd be taking him to the courthouse that night." @eryacosplay confessed, "He definitely is the biggest walking green flag I've ever seen!" @smritipathak_29 said, "Okay, this has to be one of the most thoughtful and beautiful proposals ever."
