An employee quitting a job doesn't always have to end on a sour note for them or their employer. One boss took to Reddit to show how one teenage employee mindfully articulated their experience working with the firm through their resignation letter. u/slimrockin shared a resignation letter from a young employee who had been working at the office since they were sixteen. When it was time for the teenager to move onto the next phase of their life, they had nothing but gratitude for the workplace and their co-workers.

The Reddit post title read: "A recent letter of resignation. Often hastily written on a napkin, this young person showed real gratitude. Truly a remarkable person!" The manager praised the teen employee for giving their sincere efforts and dedication in typing down a lengthy resignation letter that doubled as a thank you note as well. The letter began with the former young employee informing the manager how they would be heading off to college at the end of summer and hence had to bid farewell to the job.

The teen doesn't fail to mention how their co-workers and managers left a positive impact on their lives and taught them a lot about working in a team. "I have been so lucky to be a part of this little community of ours, and I feel so grateful to have been welcomed into the team a little over two years ago," the letter reads. "When I joined at sixteen, my managers and co-workers introduced me to what it means to be an employee at this office and fostered my eagerness to contribute to and be a part of their community of uniquely kind, supportive, smart and talented people with a love for the environment."

The person continues the letter by pointing out how this letter might sound cheesy but working at that office had taught them certain core values that they have adopted for life. "That adoption has prepared me immensely for the next chapter of my life. I wish you all the best and I am so happy that I’ve gotten to know you all," the teenager wrote to their manager and co-workers. "Thank you so much for these great two years."

The Gen Z crowd has faced a lot of trouble landing jobs in the past few years due to the pandemic and this letter is a shining example of how this generation is appreciative of their first job opportunities. They are grateful for the chances they get in the pursuit of their dream career and this letter shared by the manager proves just that.

A comment on the post read: "That is a truly classy letter. I suspect that the odds this person will go far is pretty high. Things like this make an indelible mark on people that they’ll remember for years." The manager responded to the comment by revealing that the teenage employee was headed to an Ivy League school with a scholarship. "You are so right. In all my years receiving such letters this is by far the best. I joke that they are my adopted children! They are going far indeed," the manager wrote. No doubt this unnamed teen has a bright future ahead.
