Madam Wynne's manager is one of a kind.

Managers can be tough to deal with, but some are a mix of fun and goofiness. When one particular manager was on a European trip, he sent a hilarious email about his employee's raise that left online users floored. Sharing the screenshot on October 2, 2025, Reddit user u/Zestyclose-Egg5617 (Madam Wynne) posted the ludicrous interaction, which has garnered positive reactions from people worldwide, who compared the manager to Michael Scott from The Office.

Flipping the usual style of a formal and serious narrative, the manager decided to blend humor with genuine warmth to appreciate his employee's contributions. Just 2 days into his trip, the manager began his mail, acknowledging Wynne's "skill and valor" in preventing the "collapse" of the organization in his absence, referring to it as his "Roman Empire." Addressing her effort, he writes "good job fam" and speaks about adding some "monetary gain" for the labor. "My astute proposal in which I firmly expect you to negotiate for your eyes only indubitably shall be an offer of additional funding for your valiant leader services of which I am offering 26 Euros per working day of valiance and on-the-clock effort as you hold the line. Feel free to convert what 26 Euros is to you AMERICANS and I expect a counteroffer in most haste." He signs off, expecting her response with "bated breath." Even his signature feels unserious and ultra-cool: "Ta Ta Madam Wynne"

No employee would certainly expect such a note from a corporate manager, but from a sitcom manager instead. However, this behavior has been greatly appreciated by employees worldwide. The same has been noted in a 2016 study authored by Fei Ran Yang and Chun-Hsi Vivian Chen, which explored the importance of relaxed work environments. The study highlighted that employees felt more psychologically safe to work, share ideas, and take risks when they are supported by managers who fostered a positive work environment. By using humor as a tool, the vacationing manager not only encourages a fun work environment but also fuels trust within teams.
Soon after the post went viral, many users couldn't help but compare the manager's goofiness to Michael Scott from The Office. While many users asked if the manager was intoxicated while sending the mail, the author clarified in a separate comment. Wynne wrote that her manager has always been a "chill and fun" person to work with. "We love him. For context: he's a really chill dude, he's always giving us raises for good jobs. He's only talking like a goof because he’s in Europe and wanted to make us laugh," she wrote. The employee also revealed that behind the goofiness, the manager is also loved by his employees for his courage to stand up for them. "Last year, he denied a business merger with a huge company making an offer simply because the rep was making sexual jokes toward one of the team in front of him and he noticed she was uncomfortable," Wynne wrote.

Calling him Michael Scott but "less annoying," she added, "Imagine Michael Scott but Black, 70% less annoying, and listens to us. He also almost never drinks (he's just silly at times and wanted to make us laugh). I regret to inform you that he’s 100% sober when he made that." Expressing their disappointment over not having a boss like the employee, u/SlickabodCrane wrote, "I want to work for your company. This is the kind of strategic goofiness that leadership on every team needs." u/Olli5118 commented, "You have a good boss!!!! I wish more were like this." u/Professional-Cap-822 shared, "I would absolutely love to work for this person! This is adorable!"
