Boomer grandma takes amusing dig at her generation of grandparents by listing 8 defining traits

It is no hidden fact that our grandparents love us way too much. They love us at our best and worst and are undoubtedly our loudest cheerleaders. A grandmother who goes by Boomer in a Bubble (@pinkynel) on TikTok recently shared a hilarious video in which she runs through eight qualities that define her generation of boomer grandparents. While the amusing senior clearly meant it as a self-dig at her generation, her words had many commenting on how she perfectly described their grandparents.

She begins the video by saying, "I'm a boomer grandma and I'm gonna make up a cute name for my grandkids to call me. Something like Gigi or Mimsy or Glamor or Gang Gang." This refers to the idea that grandparents often have adorable names they like to be called by their grandkids. This is also so that kids can say it more easily. Next up, she says, "I'm a boomer grandma. I still play tennis, golf and pickleball. And if your kids wanna hang out with me, they're gonna have to do the same thing." Third, she says that he's a boomer grandma and hence will constantly worry about her grandkids and kids, and even herself for that matter, getting fat. 

The fourth trait of a boomer grandparent according to the video is that they tend to have a lot of advice to give. Since they've been where you are now, they believe they know better. The next point is, "I'm a boomer grandma. So I'm gonna post photos of your kids on Facebook even though I wasn't there when the photos were taken because I wasn't invited. But my friends don't know that." The sixth trait touches on how boomer grandparents are not big fans of all the khaki, yellow and other pastel tones parents seem to prefer for their children today. She's traditional and would much rather dress her grandkids in pink and blue.

The second last trait of a boomer grandma is that she ain't going to change diapers. She says, "I'm a boomer grandma and yeah, I'm not gonna change any diapers with the brown stuff in them because I've been there, done that." Well, that makes sense. And lastly, she talks about how she will offer to babysit in the hopes that her offer will be declined. And in case it's accepted, she says: "It's gotta be at my house and the kids have to be healthy and you need to be home by 8:30."

She ends her video on the note that despite all the traits, she loves her grandkids but that doesn't mean her life isn't about her. In her own words, "I'm a boomer grandma and you know, I love you guys to bits, but this is my time." The comment section was a complete vibe with people saying more things like this. @ccbradio said, "I’m a boomer grandma and I’m going to phone in being a grandparent in the same way I did as a parent." @jujutheunicornmom sarcastically commented, "I’m a boomer grandma, I raised my kids in a toxic household and now I’m surprised that they set boundaries." @nstecklein complimented her saying, "This might be the best I’ve seen of this trend so far."
