Every person has different perceptions of what is healthy and what is not. However, sometimes the propagation of certain ideas about food can prove to be dangerous. In one such instance, a biology teacher—known as @a_biology_teacher on TikTok—called out a holistic food influencer for promoting the use of old raw milk through a simple graph, which resonated with many people. He created the stitch with Sara Jean, a holistic wellness coach known as @get.holistic on the platform.

In her video, Jean explained, "This milk has been sitting in my refrigerator for close to six weeks." As she spoke, the biology teacher, who was watching, began drawing a graph to track how "crazy" her statements became. He started by drawing a straight line parallel to the time axis, indicating how her initial statement was on the mildly concerning side. But when Jean added, "It is still perfectly safe to consume," the graph shot up, and the teacher’s reaction was one of stunned disbelief. As Jean poured the milk into a glass, it visibly appeared chunky. "That's because this is raw, unpasteurized milk," she reasoned. "Raw milk will not spoil like conventional milk does." The graph spiked even higher after that. "Let me break it down for you," she continued, "Raw milk is a living superfood, very similar to human breast milk."

The teacher, noticing the limited space on his board, sighed and glanced at the graph, which was now too big to continue. He quickly grabbed a much larger board, replicated the previous graph, and prepared to extend it further. Jean continued her claims, stating, "It is packed full of gut-healthy bacteria," as she drank the milk. At this moment, the teacher took the graph to its highest point on the board. When Jean added, "Pasteurized milk, on the other hand, is a dead food. The heating process kills off most, if not all, of the nutrients in the milk," the teacher extended the graph even further and raised his hands in disbelief at her final statement. With his silent takedown of Jean's increasingly outrageous claims, the teacher's video caught the attention of many, garnering over two million views and nearly 110k likes.

People took to the comments to express their thoughts on the use of raw milk and to share their own experiences. @jelaninaji wrote, "I feel like we've gone through this a couple of centuries ago when people linked drinking raw milk to the reason why botulism was super common." @streaming_on_vhs commented, "Pasteurization was and still is revolutionary. It has and continues to save millions of lives. Let the fools drink and eat unpasteurized products and not get vaccinated against polio and smallpox."

@rakefet666 remarked, "Similar to human breastmilk? I breastfeed and there are super strict rules about how to preserve pumped milk for a baby. Sterile equipment, how long can you store in each temperature, etc." @helwilliams shared, "I live in a dairy county. Many of the dairy farmers are 5th or 6th-generation dairy farmers. None that I know to drink raw milk. It's like how the elevator repairmen I know don't use elevators." @cheesetastinginparis expressed, "We sell raw milk in France, but you have to drink it in four days. Not six weeks. Otherwise, we make raw milk cheese with fermentation."
