'There is no world peace if your neighbor comes to your door wanting some sugar... and you lock it against them and say get away,' the celebrity said

We're probably scrolling social media at night as a way to unwind. However, Big Bang Theory’s Kunal Nayyar takes a more inspiring approach to this nighttime scrolling, reported PEOPLE. The actor revealed that one of his keen interests includes browsing GoFundMe pages at night so he can reach out to someone in need. Calling it his “masked vigilante” thing, Nayyar has been an avid donor when it comes to helping others who are struggling and being generous with his wealth. It's one of the reasons he is delighted to be earning in the first place. His simple act shows that you don’t need to look far to find someone to help, and it isn’t that hard to reach out and change a life.
Speaking with iPaper, the actor revealed that from a young age, the idea that money is important was drilled into his mind. This came after his dad lost his home, and the family went through their own share of struggles. Now that he’s made it and continues to thrive, he noted that money is important, but not for the reasons many believe. “Money has given me greater freedom, and the greatest gift is the ability to give back, to change people’s lives,” he remarked. Nayyar and his wife, Neha Kapur, have been active in sharing their wealth with many.
From funding scholarships for young students in need to donating to charities and animal shelters, the duo has a unique commitment to generosity. Apart from these activities, what he “loves” to do is hop on GoFundMe and browse pages. With so much giving, money has become less of a selfish indulgence and more like “a grace from the universe.” His actions stem from a greater perspective: to do his bit in bringing about peace and happiness in the world. Nayyar powerfully explained that while many are sitting on big shots to make a difference, each person has the power to be kind. “There is no world peace if your neighbor comes to your door wanting some sugar for their tea, and you lock it against them and say ‘get away,’” he remarked.

There is debt in almost every corner if you look. According to data from Experian, the average American debt as of mid-2025 was $104,755. The highest debt was due to a mortgage ($258,214) in 2025. Other forms of debt included personal loans, credit card debts, and so on. The District of Columbia has the highest amount of debt at $156,868, followed by Colorado, Washington, and California within proximity. According to the Urban Institute, one in six young adults is struggling to pay their debts. The younger generations are mostly struggling with credit card bills, but there are other expenses that they are unable to cope with.
16% of adults between 18 and 24 years were reportedly struggling to pay utility bills, while 12% were struggling to pay rent or mortgage. 33% who participated in the survey confessed they wouldn’t be able to afford $400 for an unexpected expense. At a time like this, coming through for a stranger with monetary help can be life-saving.
