After a painful breakupJenise Cheyenne (@itsjenisecheyenne) thought spending the holidays with her best friend would help her move on. In 2019, she was doing her master's in San Antonio when she got her heart broken. For the holidays, she flew back to SoCal to spend time with family and her friend, Brandy. While in San Diego, a man from her past invited her to a New Year's dinner. After confirming with Brandy, she accepted. However, during the date, her friend called to scream at her and threw her belongings onto the curb. Cheyenne shared the video on July 13, 2026 and it received 613,500 views, 87,300 likes, and 1,392 comments.

Next-level snooping

Cheyenne flew all the way from San Antonio to San Diego to spend New Year's Eve with Brandy. She took to Instagram to ask people for recommendations when a man Cheyenne and Brandy referred to as "Community D---" asked her out for dinner. She knew the invitation wasn't meant to become anything serious. Before agreeing, Cheyenne asked Brandy if she was okay with it, and Brandy said yes. But everything changed on New Year's Eve. The two friends had been drinking, and after four Adios MFers (AMF), Cheyenne began throwing up. They decided to stop at Denny's for some food. Brandy then took Cheyenne's phone, claiming she wanted to look up remedies for nausea. She went inside Denny's, saying she needed the restroom, leaving Cheyenne — who was still vomiting — alone outside at around 2 a.m.

Boy crazy

When they were seated, Brandy began having a meltdown and confessed that she was actually in love with the guy. She was in the bathroom going through his and Cheyenne's chats from 2016 or 2017. "I just got out of a breakup. I haven't spoken to this man in years... She is yelling, screaming at me like, 'Oh my gosh, I can't believe you would do this," Cheyenne said. Brandy was angry that he liked Cheyenne more than her. Although they eventually talked things through the following day, the peace didn't last. Brandy told Cheyenne she could go see the guy if she still wanted to. But when Cheyenne actually went through with the dinner, Brandy called her to scream at her, "I'm so mad that you went out on this date even after I told you that I liked him." Brandy then threw Cheyenne's things out of her house. Cheyenne's date had to drive her back home to her mother's house two hours away. The friendship ended after the confrontation.

Friendship unravelled

While Brandy's jealousy ultimately ended the friendship, relationship experts say romantic relationships can often strain close friendships. A survey of 1,000 adults conducted by friendship platform Not4Dating found that starting a new romantic relationship was among the top reasons people lost friends over the past decade, even ranking ahead of breakups. Experts suggest maintaining regular one-on-one time with friends and setting healthy boundaries can help prevent friendships from falling apart when romance enters the picture.

People criticized Brandy's behavior, calling it incredulous. Netizens congratulated Cheyenne for getting away from her toxic friend. @cayanncarter commented, "Grabbing your phone to look things up when she has her own phone? I already know what’s going on." @mercyriley95 pointed out, "That wasn’t her man by the way. Just a man she secretly liked; people are weird."
