That is precisely what happened with Rian Lotus (@rian.lotus), whose ex-boyfriend suddenly revealed that he's going on a boys' trip for his birthday. Noticing inconsistencies in his story, she called the front desk of the resort he was staying in. What happened next was just shocking, as Lotus later detailed on June 17, 2026. Her post has received over 70,000 likes.
A boys’ trip, really?
After three months of daily conversation, Lotus finally asked her boyfriend about his birthday plans. He then revealed that he was going to the Dominican Republic for a "boys' trip." Even though that was enough to raise suspicion, what further aroused Lotus's suspicion was his itinerary. "You're going to the zoo, petting goats, and going to see animals with the boys. That's not a boy's itinerary; that's a woman's itinerary," she said. Lotus ignored the clues until he posted a video from the reception lounge. Taking the opportunity, she decided to verify the man's story. Lotus opened TikTok, entered keywords into the search bar, and tried to locate the resort by its decor. "I'm going to have to do this," she said as she dialed the resort's number.
A call to room 101
Lotus told the reception that her husband was upstairs and urgently needed assistance. "He needs some towels, and he just can never help himself," she told them. The reception staff could not locate a guest under James Brown, her boyfriend's real name. So, the receptionist asked, "Could it be under Johnson?" Lotus was confused, but she followed her gut and agreed. The front desk then confirmed the reservation under that name, and the room number was 101.
A minor spelling error exposed it all
After hanging up, Lotus immediately called back to request a direct patch to the room. She braced herself for the moment of truth as the phone rang. To her surprise, her boyfriend picked up. She started speaking to him in Spanish: "May I speak to Señora Johnson, por favor?" Lotus asked. It was then that her boyfriend confirmed another woman was in his room and said she was sleeping. Still, refusing to let the situation slide without complete clarity, Lotus maintained character. She then told the man that there was a minor error in Johnson's spelling. So, she needed her exact name. "Katie Johnson," her boyfriend said, confirming Lotus' doubts.
