How long can a person play pretend and lie to a loved one? Apparently, Lauren's (@lauren560132) ex-boyfriend toyed with her heart for a year when they had been together for seven years. He lived a double life, had another girlfriend, and had a whole new secret identity, even a fake phone and a fake Snapchat account. He lied about his name, age, and job, all because of one reason. Lauren spilled it all when she posted the video on September 4, 2026. It has garnered 402,800 views, 35,800 likes, and 639 comments since.

Liar, liar, pants on fire

Lauren hopped on the "put a finger down" trend and went on a rant about how her boyfriend of seven years lied to her the whole time they were together. She had a hunch he was cheating on her, and one day, while he was not at home, she noticed his old phone was out. While he was sleeping, she went through it and found a separate Snapchat account. He called himself "Tiernan Hall," which wasn't even his real name. He pretended to be a university student and would talk to at least 40 girls at once. Most of the girls were underage (16 to 17 years old), which was why he lied about his age as well. "Tiernan" was actually 24 but pretended to be 19.

Dinners in Belfast

Lauren described the extent of Tiernan's lie, saying, "All these girls were doing their GCSEs and getting their results when he had already finished his master's degree two years earlier. He told them that he was in uni even though he had already graduated two years before and was working a full-time office job with me." He even dared to take his underage girlfriend to dinner around Belfast, when he knew he could've been caught by Lauren, her family, their friends, and co-workers. 

In another video, Lauren mentioned she realized it had been going on for a year because of the Snapchat streaks he maintained with one of the girls. She couldn't believe how he lied to her for a year and pretended everything was fine. She only noticed him acting strange three months before their breakup.

Liar and a cheater

Most people think some lies, such as lying about one's age, are harmless, but they often have more impact in the long run. An Associated Press Poll by Ipsos Public Affairs found that 32% of the respondents said it is "sometimes okay" to lie about one's age, 5% said it's "often okay," while the majority (63%) said it's "never okay." "Tiernan Hall" not only lied about his name and his job but also specifically about his age. He said he was 19 when he was actually 24. 

A study from Thorn revealed that 40% of kids online reported they were approached by someone they thought wanted to "befriend and manipulate" them. 47% of teenage girls said they experienced the same. Hall did this to the teenage girls when he lied to them about who he was. As for the cheating aspect, a PureWow survey shared that 31.3% got cheated on less than a year into their relationship or two to five years into the relationship. 9.4% reported they were cheated on five to 10 years into the relationship.

People were stunned by Lauren's ex-boyfriend's actions in the comments. @bugsyirl found it so unbelievable. They wrote, "Nah lad, this is a Netflix show." @unknown2822829 added, "Man has some serious dedication."
